I purchased this e-reader because I simply needed it in order to read my school textbooks while I was at work. However, I was never able to get it to hook up to the internet (even though it says I was signed in), it never calibrated properly, nor was I ever able to upload apps. It's a really pretty color, but now I have a $75 table decoration...
I ordered this Ematic Eglide Reader 2 online from Walmart and picked it up today. I was so happy and couldn't wait to open the package. Well, I charged it for 4 hours and tried turning it on, but nothing happened. The screen was just blank and there was no battery indicator on the screen while trying to charge it either, so, I packed everything in the box and went back to Walmart to return it. I am VERY disappointed! I will look into buying a Kindle as I may have better luck with that.
I had a Kobo reader but it was stepped on and the screen broke. When searching for a new one, I came across this Ematic. So far, it is quite nice and easy to use. My major complaint is trying to read in the sunlight. I cannot see the screen in bright light, even when the screen brightness is set all the way up. Since I love to be outside, this is a big problem for me. When indoors, the screen is very nice and clean. The internet was easy to set up and I have even downloaded some games from the app store. I am undecided on battery life, as I didn't realize you needed to charge with the wall plug, not the USB so last night was the first time I charged it properly! For the price, not a bad choice, unless, like I said, you want to do a lot of outdoor reading.
If you are looking for a good, inexpensive e-reader with a few extra bells and whistles...this is the product for you! If you are looking for a cheap tablet...you may just want to think again. As an e-reader, it's great! It has all the standard adjustments, functions and features of the others on the market. It even has a colour display, which is great value for the price! It has a half decent internal memory, but the expandable external memory makes it great! As a tablet...it's not so great! The charge on the battery gets drained VERY quickly when you are using the wi-fi and movies zap it, too. Downloading pictures drains the battery, but viewing them isn't too bad. One little tip, if you turn the wi-fi off, the battery life is decent.
This ereader was my big christmas gift from my husband. At first I was just too busy with work and a surgery to use it, and read directions. From the beginning I haven't been able to read long at all- I am an avid reader; 4-6 novels a week. This reader, gives me a low battery message in less than two hours. Just recently I have made an effort to really utilize it. Last night I couldn't get the touch screen to work at all. Now it won't even come on. Yes, it is powered up. So I have no recourse, they won't take it back this late. I've used it less than 12 hours total and now it is useless. This is a huge dissapointment for me. Don't have lots of discretionary cash for these items. Also, was never able to upload free books from my local library. Basically, thanks for nothing!!
