This is the last PS3 that will offer hardware support for PS2/PS1 games that I am aware of. It has all the features of the current 80GB minus the extra 20GB's of hard space. However the manual shows you how to install nearly any 2.5" hard drive in its place. The only drawback to this system is that does not have cooler running chips like the new 40GB system. If you were lucky enough to get a 60GB PS3 then you will not regret it. This was the best deal I could find on the system at the time. It was not any cheaper than the 80GB version but it came with a remote and a game so I bit. This system is discontinued so get it while you can!

I think this machine is worth the price if you're using it for the Blu-ray player, even though I think HD-DVDs are better because of the access to menus during playback and that they save the point in the movie that you stop at. The Blu-ray movies start completely over so you have to find where you left off. As far as games go, I don't think there are enough quality games out to justify buying this as a game console. All the games I've played on here, like Heavenly Sword, are beatable in about 3 hours. The graphics aren't as good as the Xbox360 either, though the Sony fans will argue that. 360 has much better online also. Overall, I think this machine has very much potential with more games and more timely releases of them. If I had to choose between Xbox360 and PS3, I would go with the 360.

I decided to pick up the 60GB PS3 after the price drop since I have a bunch of PS2 games I still like to play, and neither the 80GB nor the 40GB version offer hardware compatibility with PS2 games. Overall, it's a good system. It runs much quieter than the Xbox 360, and it has good games that I enjoy. Rachet and Clank, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4. It has a Blu-Ray player and upscales DVDs via HDMI much better than the Xbox 360. However, it runs pretty hot. The Playstation Network is good for free, but if you've played on Xbox Live on the 360, it's a whole different ball game. You can't access the menu from within a game, which requires you to quit a game in order to send/receive messages and continue downloads. But luckily, Sony is good about adding new features to system firmware. I expect it will come in time, just as it has started to on the PSP. It's a good system to have, and I personally prefer it over the Xbox 360 for dependability and my preference on games. But it certainly has it's shortcomings. I still strongly recommend it, however. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase.

The best money I ever spent. Its worth it!! The game are so real looking. PS3 is BETTER than XBOX 360. As the XBOX controller is hard to use and so big. I had the first black XBOX and sold it because it was so hard to play with that controller. I been a Playstation fan for 7+ years. GET A PS3 NOW!!! It does not overheat either.

I looked at both systems and it was clear after comparing the xbox 360 and the ps3. I've bought a couple of blu-rays already and they look great. I'm mostly into games you can play online and it's FREE to play online on the PS3. It comes with everything you need to play games and movies. The one thing I hear people complain about the most when trying to choose is the price. Honestly look at both the PS3 $499 and the XBOX 360 elite $449 + HD DVD player $179 + subscription to play online $50per year. I compared the PS3 to the 360 elite because believe me you'll want the HDMI with your system. The games for both systems cost the same. I've only met one person who had their PS3 breakdown, but met several that have had to replace their XBOX 360, one guy three times already. p.s. I recommend you get a headset if you plan to play online. It makes a big difference.
