Not only does this phone allow you to play your typical Android app games, it also allows you to play full PS games. Crash Bandicoot is my favorite! :D This phone is very multi-functional. With this particular device you can do anything that you would do with a regular Android smartphone, plus you can play PS games!!!!!! <3
First off, I love this phone! I had the Xperia x10a before upgrading to Xperia Play and I'm a huge fan of the Xperia platform. While some reviewers have complained about the sluggish operations of the phone, mine has worked flawlessly from day one. I purchased a 32GB memory card and I never have any problems with having enough space for games, videos, music, etc. The crowning achievement of this device, of course, is the Playstation certified pull-out game controller keyboard. Sure, it's great for gaming. I have spend countless hours on airplanes (I travel a lot) playing games, watching videos, etc. However, what I like the most about the Xperia Play is that it is a GREAT phone! Crystal clear sound, adequate call sound level, decent built in speakers, loads files and software quickly, an ultra-crisp touch screen, and a sleek design. A few cons: The phone is rather heavy and somewhat bulky, however the ergonomic design makes it fairly comfortable in your hand. Battery life: you will have to charge your phone nightly. All in all, a GREAT alternative to the iPhone. Plus it's a great conversation starter!
i picked up this phone and fell in love with the ps controller. i kept it for a while then forgot all about my other phones i had in the past. I picked up my old infuse for my brother to use and i noticed while i was erasing it that it had a lot of the same features, but it seemed like the infuse was more of a phone, for example, when typing a phone number in the infuse withh bring up all contacts that start with 225921 and allowing you to press them once to call, very simple and a nice feature. the infuse had more features than the play for a phone, but the play beats any phone on games, design for playing games and game quality. its so fun to play games on that phone, EVEN EMULATORS can be played with the ps controller.
I have ATT for 7 years and have only owned Sony's.My fav being the 580i. I never owned a smart phone and still really don't need one. This phones battery life for me with almost everything off is a day and a half. Played some of the games not being a gamer and they work fairly well but does have controller malfunctions occasionally ruining your winning game, having to restart the phone. Beware if your new to data!!! I only check email when necessary always being near a computer or wifi. It has apps that even if you don't do online gaming you will go over!!! Always monitor. The screen could be bigger and I wish I could move bottom row of icons so I am not connecting to the web by accident. If you buy the after market battery wait to buy the case!!
My opinion of this phone is based off of what i experienced with my iPhone 3gs for the 2 years before buying this phone. I definitely like the android software better than the iPhone. The customizing, the ability to change icons and change the home screen around however you like. Even the messaging, you can change text, color, size, almost an endless amount of things. Its more user friendly. I'm a big guy with big hands and its not difficult to play games on it, its designed really well for game playing. The reason i rated the design only 2 stars was because of how fragile the phone is. I'm a roofer and the person my friends go to when they have car troubles, so i'm always getting up and down off the concrete or high up off the ground on a roof. I've dropped my iPhone dozens of times face first "no screen protector" on gravel, concrete, off a roof, in the sink with running water, and probably a hundred or so times its fallen 4 to 5ft down on my hardwood floors and the screen has never gotten a scratch "minus a tiny one that you can't even feel". But my Sony was dropped 2 ft down the second i got home from buying it, and already it got an inch long scratch. The next day i was cleaning a rifle with my phone next to me, it fell in between my lap against the stock, and the inch long scratch turned into a deeper 2 inch scratch. I didn't buy a screen protector because of the experience i had with an iPhone and how hard i was on it, but even coming home and babying this thing, its still extremely fragile. its a decent phone, but I'd definitely recommend a screen protector, even if you don't treat phones bad like i do, better safe than having a big scratch like i gotta live with.
