This phone is amazing! the screen is brilliant! The slight curve of this phone makes it easy to hold in one hand without the risk of dropping it. Samsung phones are the best phone to have!
This Nexus device is just wonderful!! between all the stock features and the awesome custom ROMS available this is certainly my fav phone ever. 4g speeds are ridiculous. I was dying for the S3 to come out but, given what was released of the S3 and how we (the US) may lose the quadcore chipset, i'm seemingly less excited and may just hang on to this NEXUS for a while.... The build of the phone is great. most people dont like the plastic backing, i personally love i!! those sheep always make fun of my screen size b/c it's "HUGE" i can't see having a phone smaller than this ever again...definitely not too big i can hold it normally and reach the top notification bar just fine. SCREEN... THE DARK BLACKS ON THIS PHONE ARE AWESOME!!! very crisp look... doownload a black background and put some widgets youll see what i'm talking about.
This phone has a lot of great features. What kills the experience is the battery life. Even with the extended life battery 6-8 hours is about all you can expect with light use. Even though the phone is 4G capable, and I live in a 4G area, Verizon tells you to turn off the 4G to extend battery life. So why did I buy a 4G phone? If you contact Samsung all they tell you is to turn off a bunch of features. They don't acknowledge that they have a problem. Wait for them to come up with a fix before you buy.
I got my Galaxy Nexus as an x-mas gift through Verizon. It replaced my MotoDroid which I loved when it first came out, but over the two years since, has shown its age. I bought a high capacity battery and a silicon case to protect my new beastie from my clumsiness. Power-up and initialization went flawlessly and by the time I got to really play with it, nearly all my apps from my Droid had already uploaded. My anticipation at using the new "Ice Cream Sandwich" Android 4.0 operating system was rewarded with my first few minutes learning the new and improved interface. The display is bright and huge. The response to commands is fast. The machine is limited only by its connection to the world. Watching movies on the Nexus is much smoother than the old Droid. Given a 4G or Wifi connection, it is almost like watching on my TV at home. The Droid made video look like a slide show. Only a slow network will make the Nexus a little choppy, but even then, it seems to handle the slow network much better. The larger screen makes reading twitter, facebook and other apps that much easier. The Nexus also interfaces with wifi networks better, not dropping them as quickly. Complaints that the camera is "only" 5 megapixels are pretty silly. Given the size and limited quality of the lenses in smartphones, more megapixels doesn't really add to picture quality. Getting the Nexus camera up and running and taking a picture is very fast compared to older phones. It takes less than 10 seconds from standby mode to image. My old Droid would take more than 30 seconds at best! A physical shutter button would have been nice - it's a little hard to take a picture one handed, but the camera is quick and responsive. I tried out different security methods and went back to no security just so I could have the instant camera mode option. Facial recognition was cute and worked ok. but does not allow instant camera mode, though keeping the camera in the main menu would make that option only slightly slower than the no security option. I was a little disappointed with the built in speaker - it's a little bit too quiet. Hearing the notification audio is a little hard and playing audio through the speaker is always too quiet, even if you turn the unit around so the speaker faces you. The included earphones work great and the audio from them is very good. Overall, the Nexus is an excellent machine, fast, large screen, light weight. The new Android 4.0 works much better than I expected and the new interface is easy to learn and adjust to.
The Galaxy Nexus is easily the favorite of all the mobile phones I have ever owned. IMO this phone and its software were definetly designed to satisfy the tech-savy but even novices' such as myself are finding out quickly how much fun this phone can be. Love the design, even with extended battery it barely changes the phones prfile unlike alot of other mobile phones. Great job on this one!
