Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque 2 oz (Pack of 4)

So I've used this hair mask for a couple years now, and every time I try something different, I keep coming back. It helps strengthen it, reduces breakage, fall out, and split ends, and makes my hair so soft. I have 3a-3b hair that is bleached and heat styled regularly, and it keeps it in wonderful condition. However, I just got a new container after a while and the smell has changed. It used to smell like play dough, which isn't a great scent, but it was completely tolerable. I can't even describe what it smells like now, just that it's absolutely unbearable. I was terrified the smell wouldn't wash out of my hair, and while it mostly did, I'm still not happy. It's such a good product and I would hate to have to stop using it, but I just don't know if I can deal with the new smell. 4 stars because of how well it works, but I have to knock at least one (and to be honest, it probably should be two) off for scent.

This masque has given me the best hair days I've ever had. My curls are moisturized and perfectly defined for up to three or four days after use. There's almost zero frizz. I use it with the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl&Style Milk and Frizz-Free Curl Mousse. This masque has made me feel so confident in wearing my hair down. it also smells amazing!

I read reviews about this product and I was sure that it would weigh down my thick 2a-2b waves so I did a test day where I would wash it on a day that I dont have to go anywhere and it worked amazing! My mom loved how shiny it made my hair after it was looking full for months and the smell is amazing! I wash with my renpure argon oil shampoo and then put on the mask from roots to the ends and left it on for 30 minutes then washed it out as much as I could and followed with renpure argon oil conditioner and that was it (I didnt wanna add mousse because I wanted to see how it would affect my hair) and it came out so soft and shiny! I wish it could define but it worked 10x better than I thought it would especially since my hair is so thick and I have so much of it. Next week when I wash I'm definitely going to put on the mousse and have poppin' hair

This new formulation is horrible. Why did Shea moisture mess with the Original product? They should have just made a whole new product and leave the old one for those who actually liked and benefited from it. This formula does nothing for my hair. The original formula used to be my go to to put life in my hair but this new formula made my hair worse.

I had just taken out a protective style after almost two months and i thought i was going to lose most of the growth that i had gained. However after washing and conditioning with the JBCO shampoo and conditioner, i followed up with this. Let me tell you, when this product hit my strands, there was INSTANT slip (i have 4b/c hair). My strands immediately felt stronger. And i was actually able to finger deranged with minimal effort! After leaving on a plastic cap for 30 mins, i rinsed it out and my hair felt much stronger and i actually retained most of my growth! Also my curls were much more defined. And i didn't even have to use that much product. I will definitely be buying again
