Superior by far. Being a gourmet cook for many years, I have cooked lots of puff pasties from scratch to frozen. Out of the countless brands Wewalka has been the best. The flakiest puff and best flavor. The only one with the parchment paper already in it ready to unroll. Hopefully it is not being discontinued since is getting really hard to find.
I preheated my oven with the pizza stone inside at 425F as directed on instructions. Made up my pizza on the Wewalker Dough with typical ingredients Baked for 15 minutes per instructions. THE WEWALKER DOUGH MADE THIS PIZZA THE BEST I'VE EVER EATEN .
it gets 2 stars for convenience, but the texture is mediocre, and the flavor borderline nasty. It says "European Style" but don't be fooled. Europe has plenty of crappy bakeries. This puff pastry must be based on one of them. Rolling it out and having parchment is great, but if it tastes off, it's a no. Looking at the ingredients, there is no butter to be seen. Are you KIDDING me? instead, they use cheap, ultra-processed vegetable oils. And it shows. No self-respecting Baker would do this. At least none that have earned the right to respect themselves. This company doesn't respect it's work, the product, or the customer by peddling this rubbish.
This is my preferred puff pastry. The only problem is the lack of availability. Right now there only appears to be one store in Pinellas that has it in stock and that is a half hour drive each way. May as well go to Publix and get Pepperidge Farm.....
I bought a package to try and I fell in love with this product ... liked not having to thaw it because it is refrigerated not frozen and it was so easy go use. I made an awesome apple strudel. I bought another package on my next visit and now I don't see it at the Pelham Rd store where I originally found it. Why do you discontinue a product when I like it?
