I've been using Ziploc food containers for years. I love to cook and often send food home with friends. The medium size is perfect for storing leftovers as well as freezing food. The problem I have is that people never return the containers. Recently, I could not find the Ziploc brand in the grocery store and almost panicked. The reason I got hooked on Ziploc Twist 'n Loc was because the covers for the medium fit on the small containers. They stack nice and neat. This eliminated the guess on which lid fit on what container problem. I also discovered the small containers with their trusty loc covers. I hope Ziploc continues to manufacture these gems, as they are worth every penny.
I have chronic migraines so when I'm feeling well I cook something that will feed me for several days and freeze some for later so I always have something to eat on hand. These containers are fantastic. I just can't find them locally anymore but I hope they will continue to be made. They hold liquids, like soup, just as good as they do other foods.
I love these things! I just moved, and was SO happy to find the box that they were in! I mostly use them for soup. I can't give them 5 stars though, because after years of holding very hot soup, as well as hanging out in the freezer with said soup for months, they are finally starting to leak. They are in the aisle with all the other *disposable* containers, and for being disposable they have performed marvelously. I have no problem with spending a few bucks for new ones. For now, I put them in plastic bags if I have to transport them. I thank Ziploc for providing these containers in the perfect size for a large ladle, with darn good durability.
I use these Twist 'n Lock containers for storing leftovers in the door of my freezer, they fit perfectly. I make a big batch of soup or cassoulet and freeze the rest in these containers, each container is a perfect 2 portion serving. I just run hot water on the container and it slides into the pot. AND FYI people, NEVER put plastic in the microwave to heat up food, NEVER, you put your food in glass bowls to heat things up in the microwave.
I used it three times to heat up my soup the first time it was perfect no problem at all. The second time it started to have signs of melted holes around the rim of the soup top edge. The third time it is very obvious that there are little holes/dent in the same area. I'm not sure if the container could take the amount of heat for heating up soups in the microwave for 2 minutes. I would recommend that to my friends for other stuff but not for heating up soups.
