This is my 3rd Powershot, all very good. The A1100is battery life can be managed by (1) setting "IS" for ONLY when the picture is actually taken, instead of continuously running. (2) use high capacity rechargeable, not alkaline. (3) in bright daylight turn off the LCD and use the viewfinder instead. All cameras have problems with LCDs when it's sunny. Canon is one of the few who still have viewfinders. When the battery warning light goes on, I switch off the LCD and can get another 30-40 shots. (4) in my small camera bag I keep a 3 sets of AAs (two rechargeable, one Lithium). This works great..
I just bought this camera about a week ago and I have already taken over 100 pics. I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a nice but decent priced camera! The only problem I have is with the batteries. I have only had this camera for a week now and I have replaced and put brand new batteries in this camera 3 times already. Yes they are brand new batteries straight out of the package, and the are Duracell. Anyone have any other ideas how to make my batteries last longer? I'd rather not use the rechargeable ones only because I'd rather be able to replace the batteries right away and not have to carry a charger around with me. Overall best digital camera I've ever owned!!
I bought this camera a week before my daughter's graduation just to take some practice shots. I was a bit skeptical about battery life with the AAs but decide to give this camera a chance. Wow was i suprised not only did it take great pictures but the battery life is very good. I boughrt 4 AAs rechargable batteries and have taken over 100 pictures and I am just now putting in my 2nd pair of rechargables.
wanted to write to say how much i love this camera. Iam still trying to figure out the camera i have only had it 2 days and it does take excellent pictures. Took the camera to a bowling tournament and even in low light it took good pictures. Then went to park and this camera gave outstanding pictures. Iam happy to say that if you want a great camera this is it. And with 12.1 mega pixel you can blow picturesup to big sizes and no grain shows up. This camera is great and i love it.
This is my first Cannon and I am not disappointed! It was an impulse buy since it's not always easy to just grab my larger camera for simple snapshots around the house or out with friends. I wasn't looking to spend alot on a "pocket" camera (as I call them) but I also didn't want to buy something cheaply made either. A few friends have cannons & I saw they were good cameras. I especially like the indoor pics that I get. I have only had this camera for a month but am going to use it as much as possible. The controls and menus were nice and simple (didn't have a ton of submenus, which was nice), plus this is my 4th digital camera over the years. Need to get better batteries and wish it came with li-ion batteries. Overall, Very Nice!
