Canon PowerShot G11 10 Megapixel Compact Camera, Black

Despite the excellent rating this camera received from Consumers Report, it did not meet my expectations and I returned it. All pictures taken indoors with artificial light were yellow, even with the flash. I have white walls and in every picture I took, the walls were very yellow. I also was not happy with it's zooming capability as many of the zoomed pictures were not sharp.

Ive had the camera for about 3 months now and i cant be happier with it. Great versatility, great functions, and the best thing I've had since my D-SLR. The beauty of this is the many aftermarket add-ons available, including the teleconverter from Canon. Just a great on-the-go, point and shoot.

Coming from the A640, this camera has a very familiar feel. the articulated screen comes in handy when shooting at weird angles or above crowds. It takes fabulous pictures at full auto or in the other manual modes. I understand Canon's attempt at designing a retro-style body, but an angled shutter button with a larger diameter would have been more ergonomic. Although the right hand grip has greatly improved over the G9, it would feel more secure if they would have built it up by a 1/4" (slightly convex, i.e. A series) at the risk of increasing the size and portability of course. I carry this camera with me daily to capture our 3y/o daughter, when I'm hiking, mountain biking, on day trips, family parties etc. The great thing about this is that you can take incredible pictures and decent video without having to lug around a DSLR or an extra video camera. We carry extra memory cards because they take up so little space. DSLR features in a point/shoot size. If Canon would use the lens ring toggle feature liken to that of the S90, this camera would blow the competition out of the water...even at a higher price. Just sayin :)

I love this camera. I've been a G fan for a long time and everytime a new series is released I find new and exciting features. Image quality is perfect. I like the swivel display, I nver use it, but it's there ready for me, if you don't like it, just ignore that fact. Anyways you don't pay extra for having a swivel display. Despite user opinions, I live it being heavy, I want to feel I have something in my hand. Congratulations CANON, keep going.

I purchased this camera as an upgrade to the G7 which I loved. The G11 is definitely an improvement with better feel and the articulated LCD allows more creative positioning of the camera for picture taking. Creative control overall is excellent especially in full manual and RAW. I love the size of the camera which allows you to easily take it with you when you might not want to carry a DSLR. Some of my best photos have been taken because the camera was in my pocket when needed. Image quality is excellent.
