Did extensive research on this fluid. Using it on an older Cummins with the 47RH trans from ‘95, after determining many folks back in the 90s had used dex3 before the more slippery and fancy atf4 Chrysler stuff came out. And it was just fine and supported. The manual calls for the original atf but Dex3 was also used interchangeably really since these transmissions never required any of the heavy friction modifier additive packs these atf4 ones call for. Now, even more so, this is a built billet transmissions with HD everything, so nearly all reputable builders will say to use dex3 with these still and change often since dex3 does sheer down fast. Well TES-295 Allison spec was developed in early 2000's and essentially replaced and superseded dex3 app in the Allison 1000's, etc. Castrol TranSynd was the first TES295 fluid developed with Allison….and proved to be awesome among the industry. Well, after a few more TES based specs came out, TES-668 came out just a few years back trumping all the specs of the 295 fluid. Thankfully, I can use this in mine no issue. Looking forward to a comfortable 4 year change even in severe usage. This stuff is incredible. Read up on TES668 specs and if your transmission is applicable to it, use with absolute confidence!!!
