I bought this product a few years back. One of the feet (beside the gate) broke. I called customer service to see if they could replace the broken foot. I didn't expect much really - it was an older model. I figured it was my loss. And even if they did say they could replace it, I expected it would be at cost. After waiting for AGES for someone to answer, and going back and forth trying to figure out if the new gates hardware was compatible, I was very surprised to hear they were going to send me a completely new gate free of charge. I was blown away. A brand new gate. Wonderful :)
Very nice baby gate. The door opens easily, but is a little difficult to close. If it closed easier, then we would give it five stars
My husband and I purchased this gate to block our twins from going into the kitchen from our living room. After my husband assembled the gate, we noticed that the center section does not secure to the floor in any way. Our boys could easily push on the middle section - it just doesn't seem designed well to securely block children who are mobile plus having to open and close the gate latch was cumbersome.. We returned it the same day. Sad, because we really need a partition in our home.
We use our formal dining room as a play room for our kids. This allowed my 18-month old to throw her toys all over my house which resulted in a very stressed out mama. I was pregnant when we bought the gate and it was purchased to close off an awkward space to contain our kids and their mess. It has saved my sanity. It is sturdy and cannot be climbed, even by my little 18month old monkey. Her toys are now contained to the playroom and I can spend more quality time with her instead of picking up after her. My husband installed it but it only required a drill and wasn't too difficult to put up. HIGHLY recommended product.
Our house is old, so when I measured the opening between my dining room and living room I got an odd measurement...73" and I couldn't find anything to span that distance...except this gate. I thought that we would still be able to make the opening in the middle of the archway. But, if used the way recommended, we would have had to choose one side or the other. My poor DH had the gate almost set up before I hit on the brilliant idea to go ahead and use all three peices of the gate and it would just protrude into the dining room a bit (see the picture for the coral type set up for an idea of what I'm talking about). It's good for us because we don't really use our dining room for much more than a pass through. We like that the gate is mesh instead of all bars. She's crawled right into it several times and just bounces back without any crying. It also doesn't feel as much like a jail to me. :) The only problem we have is the latching system is kinda funny. You have to get it lined up just right. It takes some practice, but it's not too hard. I would have preferred an auto latch system or something that you didn't have to mess with as much. Regardless of the latch, this is a great gate for strangely proportioned places. We will probably be able to use this gate in any house we move to, given that I like the open concept living. I definitely recommend this gate.
