This microphone is a great learning toy. It also helps with speech. Both my four and two-year-old enjoy playing with it. It is the perfect size for little hands to grasp onto the microphone. This microphone has three modes; Counting to 10, the alphabet song, and standard. With both of the counting and alphabet mode, kids can sing/count along with their voices amplified. It counts and sings slow enough that toddlers can easily count/sing along with it. The standard mode only amplifies their voice without any counting or singing. Their mouth does have to be about an inch away from the microphone for it to pick up their voice. My two-year-old doesn't quite understand her mouth doesn't have to touch it, so there have been a few times the microphone has quit working because of her accidentally spitting inside of it. After the spit has dried up the microphone works again. It doesn't keep my toddlers attention very long. My two-year-old enjoys playing with it more than my four-year-old. She loves pressing the alphabet song button so she can dance while it's singing. She also likes talking into the microphone so she can hear her voice louder. There isn't a volume setting, but it isn't overly loud so that's not a big deal for me. It does have an off setting that is easy for my toddlers to toggle on and off.
My toddler was thrilled to find this puppy microphone. It has several sound buttons that sing songs and make noises and can even record snippets of your voice. However, after only a few times of use, this microphone started having a terrible buzzing feedback over the voice recording. It was not dropped or handled roughly, but it still seems to be broken and making terrible noises. Not the sturdiest toy I've ever seen if it stops working as intended after a few play sessions, but it was fun while it lasted.
This is a very cute little microphone, although it's just like an echo type sound, not an amplifier, but that's not a bad thing. It has 3 different settings, 2 of the 3 have music to sing along to and one is just to sing into it. The design makes it easy for little hands to get a good grasp on it. I gave it 4 stars because the batteries seem to die quickly, however that could just be a user error, maybe I'm not turning it off properly.
I'd say this one would be great for small children under 4 years old mostly because it's created with lower quality and colourful unicorn designs for my 5 year old wouldn't play with it because it seemed to "babyish" lol. But my 2 year old absolutely Loved it!
I got this Spark Microphone for my two year old son. I was looking for a kids microphone that would let him amplify his voice without a song constantly playing in the background noise on the microphone. I've tried others and have not liked any of them. My five year old had one when he was younger and loved it but I couldn't remember what brand it was and it was lost long ago. I absolutely love this microphone and so do both my sons. It's very sturdy and durable and very easy to hold. The puppy face is cute but you don't really look at the face, it could have been any design but having the puppy ears perked up was a pretty clever way to make sure the kid knows how to align their mouth to the mic on top. The orange star button plays a counting song with numbers one to ten. The purple diamond button plays the alphabet song. The yellow circle button stops the songs so that you don't have to listen to the whole thing. The buttons must be a random color with each toy because the colors of our buttons are different from the pictures and from the instructions that came with it, but they are the same shapes in every one. The red switch button turns the whole unit on and off, but I think it times out on it's own as well and goes into a sleep mode which is helpful in preserving the batteries. He uses this everyday and all the time and we are still on the demo batteries. The sound comes from the speaker on the bottom and once you have it turned on you do not have to press or hold any buttons to have it amplify your voice. I love that he can use this to sing along to the tv without the songs playing, or he can play the songs and sing along with them. He is actually learning to count using this. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone with young kids. It's recommended for ages three and up but I see no reason why any age could not use this. I don't see any way a baby or child or even adult could get a piece to break off of this. I think even young infants would love this.
