Philips Norelco 8000 series 1290X - Shaver - cordless - black

I've been using Norelco rotary razors for over 30 years. I'm probably on my 5th one or so. I've watched Norelco come up with new features and new styles as the years have gone by, This razor, the 1250x looks to be the last of the good ones, unless Norelco smartens up and fixes the newest ones. First, the 3D shave is wonderful, flexing every way possible works, close shave, very comfortable. And on THIS razor, the pop up trimmer is just OK, a few models ago, with the large swing up trimmer was the BEST, this smaller pop up trimmer is OK. BUT MUCH better than the NEWEST razors that don't have a built in trimmer, you have to pop off the whole shave head and pop on a separate trimmer, NO NO! I refuse to keep track of separate parts that will get lost, especially when I travel. Love the shape, easy to hold, battery lasts at least a week between charges. I'd buy THIS razor again (although you can't find them any more), but I will NOT buy any of the newest ones with the separate trimmer. PLEASE Philips/Norelco, FIX THAT in future models!

This razor was too expensive. It takes way too long to shave and I end up with what feels like a five o'clock shadow and my face is sore all day long from trying to get a close shave. It definitely is not THE ULTIMATE SHAVING EXPERIENCE you advertise.

Great product, close shave, flexible heads a plus. easy to clean, trimmer is fair, power last long time, fits hand well. I would have given performance a 5 if the shave was just a tad better. in order to get a close shave I have to apply some pressure or go over the area over and over again... ... this irritates my face, especially around the neck area. Not as good as a razor but its adequate. Expensive although i have not purchased replacement heads, i understand that they are quite pricey which is a problem... but I will worry about that later.

My old Norelco razor died because I dropped it. I planned to buy another but purchased the more expensive SensoTouch 3D. It was hard to imagine any improvement over the previous model but I was hopeful that the newer one was not just stimulate sales. I am very pleased to learn the newer product is much better. The shape is more natural and takes less effort to hold which is a big plus for painful hands. The shaver is quieter and the batteries keep a more constant speed evan when nearly drained. While all these points are noteworthy I am most impressed that the SensoTouch 3D gives me a closer and quicker shave than your previous top model.

As a blade shaver since I was young I was skeptical of trying to use an electric razor. But I was pleasantly surprised. I still don't get the very close shave that I used to get with a blade but that's to be expected. However, the shave that I get with this razor is pretty darn close! And I don't have to worry about the nicks and cuts I was getting with the blade, especially on the upper lip where I have a scar. That's always been a bad place to shave.
