Garmin nvi 850 - GPS navigator - automotive 4.3 in widescreen

Worked well out of box. Transer of old Garmin GPS data points to new unit smooth. Voice recognition worked well even with deep southern accent. More accutrate than Garin2620 unit it replaced. Wish it had a few more customizable display options (main screen MPH, elevation, time to destination). Speed limit display handy but a bit large...would be nice if it changed color when you were 10% over speed limit. Would add a few more voice recognizable prompts

I had purchased two of these through Amazon and they must have had a "Bad Batch" both would not acquire the satellite connections. And they were $243.00 at the time. As of this writing Garmin sells this Model for $228.00. The Wal-Mart unit fired up immediately made the satellite connections and is working as prescribed. The unit is "Feature Rich" and portable. The steering wheel mounted button for audible commands works great. This is a great deal and a great price at Wal-Mart. Thanks, Steve D

We just got the Garmin and used it on a trip 3500 miles round trip. 1. The screen froze on me 6 times I stopped counting after that. 2. The garmin keep recalculating saying we were on the access road when we would be on the actual free way.

Would give this Nuvi 850 an excellent rating since I am overall pleased with the product. Except for the following, which may be peculiar to my unit, it was shipped with text in the Greek language...Took a couple of days to figure out how to set to English...by downloading the manual from Garmin's website, and recognizing the screen "buttons" from it. Also, screen locked up once and power-off and power-on did not fix it, but re-charging battery, removing then re-inserting battery seems to do the job. Happened only once. Excellent value for a voice command GPS which allows one to skip screen-touches. Must turn down/off radio and loudly say exact commands. I especially appreciate the "Go Home", "Find recently found" and the "volume up [or] down" commands. Good upgrade from the Nuvi 760 except for the lack of bluetooth, which is available in the Nuvi 860.

This was a discontinued item and could not download a manuel and no other support. I think it was a good value if you were versed with a GPS. This was our first and needed a manuel. Service was very good, it arrived in less time than they said and they were very good about our returning it to the store.
