Ex-Confederate cavalryman Jim Walker (Rory Calhoun) confronts a heap of trouble when he rides shotgun on a Butterfield stagecoach run through a dangerous stretch of the Arizona Territory. It's a journey he may never complete. At the line's relay station, a killer (John Russel) holds Walker and others captive... while outside the threat of an Apache attack grows. Looking down the wrong end of a gunbarrel with Walker are grizzled mountain man (Arthur Hunnicutt) and a big galoot of a reinsman (Lon Chaney). And teaming with the killer is pre-"Star Trek." DeForest Kelley as twitchy-fingered Toby Jack. Toby loves to "slap leather and watch 'em fall." He'll live by those words... and die by them when arrows turn him into an Apache pincushion!
