I was so excited to find an iPod FM transmitter for under 50 bucks, and when I finally got it in the mail, I rushed to my car to try it out. Only to discover that it is too bulky for my 2007 malibu. I mean, i can't even put the car in park with out the shifter hitting the transmitter. Also, the transmitter is so heavy that it weighs down my cigarette lighter so that if you hit a bump, it will move and turn off and turn back on because it jiggles. Needless to say, It was not worth the 30 something dollars. (including tax and shipping).
This transmitter was GREAT--for about 2 weeks. The sound was fantastic, it held my Nano perfectly and was easy to use. Unfortunately, it completely broke after about 2 weeks of use; the piece that connects to the outlet in the car broke off IN the outlet and an inner spring fell down inside where it could not be retrieved. I was really sad about this, I returned it to the store and they refunded me in full--shipping included.
I was sort of disappointed with this, to be honest. There is white noise all the time and the thing moves around when you make turns. If you go over a bump it will break up badly. Overall though, it is worth it to be able to listen to my iPod in the car.
I got the as part of a package when I bought my Nano so the cost was pretty low. However, it has several problems that makes it a pain to use. I expect to replace it very soon with something that works better. One problem with this product is that it doesn't fit a Nano very well. The Nano is smaller than the cradle even when fully closed which allows the Nano to flop around. Another is that the FM transmitter does not appear to be very strong. I get some static on all channels, but was able to find one that wasn't too much worse than a normal radio station. If you are looking for CD quality sound, this might not be a good option for you. A third issue is that the cord to connect to the player is pretty short -less than 3" long. Makes it difficult to plug and unplug your player very often. The final item is one that should not have surprised me, but did. A fundamental feature of the design is that the entire unit is support by the cigarette lighter plug. Unfortunately that connection is not tight enough to keep the unit upright. It tends to flop to one side or the other. I was able to jam it into a stable position against a heater control knob, but that will probably be a problem this winter.
this sounds great and is very handy. it's kind of clunky and falls out when i hit a bump sometimes but worth the money if you want to listen to your ipod in your car and don't have an input for it.
