I bought this product as a home back-up. It was easy to set up, started and worked well the first time I used it. I did not need it for a while after that and it was not possible for me to drain the gas from it as is recommended for long term storage. I added some fuel stabilizer and put it in the garage. The next time I went to use it, it would not start and gas was pouring out of the carburetor. I will comment on the first time I used it. It started easily and ran well. It easily powered many lights, many fans, laptops, two TV's, several fans and two refrigerators. This kept my family fairly comfortable through a hot and miserable time. Also, it save a lot of money because we did not lose anything from the refrigerators. I will have it repaired and keep using it.
I BOUGHT THIS GENERATOR BEFORE SANDY HIT. I DIDN'T NEED IT THEN' BUT WE HAD A SNOW STORM AND HAVE BEEN WITHOUT POWER FOR ALMOST 3 DAYS, AND NO POWER YET. GENERATOR HAS WORKED FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE HUGE GENERAC GENERATORS AT WORK AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD MACHINES!!!!!!!! I RECOMMEND THESE TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR PORTABLE, OR BACK UP POWER!!!!!!!!
Our Generac Generator was purchased a couple of days before Hurricane/Super Storm Sandy was to hit the northeast. Not wanting to be without at least a portable heater to use for my wife, we needed to have a generator. So, we were able to secure one at a small country hardware store. We spent more than we would have somewhere else but, we had peace of mind and a great product. Super Storm Sandy never ended up hitting us but, living where we do, we always end up losing power in the wintertime. I am confident that this generator will give us all the comforts we will need when we eventually lose power! I have started it up and each time I have, even in the freezing weather, she cranks right up! What a girl! Now, if I could only get my wife to do the same! lol
Haven't had a chance to really test it in a power outage yet, but it seems to be well built & easy to operate. The 30 amp. 240 volt plug was my main reason for the purchase. This option should be enough to power most of the items I need to power up when power fails.Would recommend the Generac to friends.
I bought this generator before Hurricane Irene hit because, being new to my house, my neighbor told me we lose power all the time. SInce I have a sump pump that runs about every 2 minutes, I needed backup power. Well Irene came and went and we never lost power. I did lose power over the next year a few times for very brief periods and the generator fired right up each time. Finally, Hurricane Sandy hit out area and we lost power for 29 hours. The only time I stopped the generator was to put more gas in it. It ran great. I ran a sump pump, fridge, TV, cable box, modem, router, lights, laptops and cell phone chargers. It was awesome! The only downside to this model is that it lacks an electric starter which I don't need but it would make it easier if my wife ever needs to start the generator when I'm not home.
