The WeeSprout Silicone Baby Food Freezer Tray with Clip-on Lid really is a great storage container for homemade baby food, vegetable and fruit purees and breast milk, but I have found it is also wonderful for freezing fresh herbs and many other small portions of foods and liquids, and just for making plain old ice (that is if you have not put anything into it that has seeped into the silicone)! That said... it is kind of an expensive ice tray. I think you can buy the silicone ones for under a dollar all over town, but if you want the lid I suppose this is great. It is really nice to have the lid, though. I have not noticed any off taste as some others have, but I boil just about everything I buy before I use it, which supposedly helps the taste everyone is talking about. The frozen food just pops right out of these and you can easily fit the contents of the whole tray into a quart freezer bag. It is the perfect portion size for all the things I mentioned above, but once the baby begins eating more, you will have to pop out two portions or more.

The tray has 8 openings that are a little over an inch deep. The frozen item does not pop out, like a traditional ice tray. You must loosen the frozen food by pressing the bottom of the silicone tray to release the item. It is very easy to do…just different from a regular ice tray. This will be a great way to freeze leftover applesauce (for later use in a cake) or to make punch ice cubes to put in a punchbowl for holiday parties. I drink a lot of water, so small amounts of any leftover fruit juices can be poured in this tray, frozen, and added to a glass of water to give it a burst of fruit flavor. You could even freeze small amounts of veggies (onions, peppers, celery, mushrooms, etc.) for a quick addition to casseroles, soups, or stews. Really, the possibilities are endless for this awesome tray. I will find many uses for it in the future.

Saves plenty on the budget, too, as the commercial baby food is very expensive, not to mention the additives that are not so good for a baby's health. The tray is also a perfect refrigerator container for leftover baby food. Not only is this tray lightweight, but it is very easy to fill. The 1ounce measurement is imprinted on the cups which is another nice feature. I love that the tray is super easy clean, too. Finally, I even loved the packaging! It is so earthy and attractive that, if bought for a baby gift, could be wrapped with just a ribbon!

I originally got this for my daughter to use for my grandson but after only having a short time she realized it's multiple uses. It is used mostly for freezing and storing homemade baby food. (It does that quite well). It is also used in the Instant Pot brand pressure cooker. It fits very nicely in the 6 qt pot and makes great egg bites. We did learn not to fill it up all the way, It is to hard to get the food out. We also learned to let things sit out of the freezer for just a few minutes and everything slides right out. The lid snaps tight so nothing spills out and makes stacking in the freezer so easy. This is one of the best things out on the market I have found! I just can't believe all the things this is used for. I bought several more in different colors. We know have 4 and they are used daily. I haven't had anything stick to the tray or stain the tray. We have even made stewed beets and no stain! These are easily cleaned and dishwasher safe! When nit in use they stack real nice and doesn't take up much room.
