You can choose from 7 speeds to suit your mood and necessity thanks to the SRAM twist shifters. The shifters allow you to choose between effort and torque parameters. For instance, you can hit higher speeds with greater effort or lower the pace to enjoy a relaxed ride. Fitted with reliable linear pull-brakes, the womens cruiser bike will never let you down in a crisis. Also, the bike has 26-inch wheels and alloy rims that make the bike a joy to ride. This bike was a gift from my daughters for Mother's Day 2012 - and I got it the week after because it was ordered on line and put together by a local WalMart for me. This bike is not meant for racing or a hard work out - but it rides nicely for cruising. I have been able to cruise lightly on it - meaning not a lot of long distances and not a lot of hills and such. It's great for family bike rides with my kiddos on their bikes. The retro look gets compliments wherever it goes, too. It's definitely an eye catcher. It has 7 speeds and they are well set - I use the lower ones when biking on an incline (not steep though, so I can't say from that perspective) and the higher gears for flat surfaces or going down hill. I once had a 21 speed and it didn't seem to work as nicely as this 7 speed cruiser, so I'm impressed. If you want to use the back shelf you do need to use your own cords or ties or whatever - it doesn't come with those.

Bought this for Daughter because "How could you go wrong, with a Schwinn"..? Bike was beautiful, but very POOR Quality. She took to college and had nothing but problems. DeRailure (?) is attached to a very weak part of frame & became out of line & jammed the chain & caused her to crash. Learned by reading here later that Schwinn's sold to Walmart are of poor quality.. I brought it back & will search for a quality Bike, probably NOT a Schwinn.

We love this bike! I purchased it for my (tall) 9 year old daughter and she will be able to enjoy it for years to come. At first when we pulled the seat out we thought it was gigantic, but it has proven to be very comfortable and styling. We purchased a white basket for the front and she can cruise with our Yorkie in the basket - quite a cute sight - she gets lots of comments. Not only is the bike very styling, it is also runs very smoothly and seems to be well-built. No regrets with this purchase.

I purchased this bike when I decided to park my car to save money as I went back to school. I needed a bike that would be kind to my lower back (I have had two surgeries) but it also needed to help me climb since it's all uphill back home; a single speed wasn't going to fit the bill. The safety sticker says to wear a helmet (bought one), and among other things I am not to ride at night, but I think that's a stipulation I will have to ignore, lol. This bike comes almost completely assembled and has an easy to follow step by step manual for putting it together and adjusting the components. I had to attach the handlebar, seat post, seat, pedals, front wheel and fender. The hardest part of the installation was when I skipped a direction and lost the seat post inside the bike. A little DW40 and turning the bike upside down retrieved it, then I used mineral spirits to strip the lubricant from the post. The second hardest part was fighting the front tire to get the brakes over the tire, but it only took about a minute or so. I let the air out to do this. The third hardest part was tracking down my allen wrench set (now where did I use it last? haha) To put this bike together you will need two sizes of allen wrench, an adjustable wrench, a 15mm open wrench and a skinny adjustable wrench (not sure of the open end size, but that would work too). The front fender is dented, but it is supposed to be so that it doesn't interfere with brake operation. Speaking of brakes, they are incredibly easy to adjust. Only the front ones needed adjustment and that took about a minute. It did come with a small scratch on the chain cover thingy but it's small and not unlike what it will have soon anyway. I'll put a little clear enamel on there to prevent rust. If you are slightly handy then don't bother trying to lug it home from walmart. Have it shipped to your home. It took me an hour and a half to put together because I took my time and had to track down tools. Oh... a note on color. The photo looks teal but it's robin's egg blue. The choice of brown for the handles and seat looks out of place. The tires are not whitewalls. The rims are sunshine yellow and are very bright and cheery. I don't think I will get hit as easily with this bike, as it's almost electric in color, which will also help track it down if it's stolen. It's a very pretty bike, not my color, but I can have it re-painted teal after I graduate and pay down my debts. I dinged it one bar under meets expectations for the color.

I bought this bike about two weeks ago. I fell in love with the color, the retro look and the comfort of the bike. I had it put together at the store and checked at a bike shop. I was told by them that it was a very cheaply made bike and very hard to adjust properly. I was also told that the Schwinn bikes made for Walmart are cheaply made versions and not of the quality you would expect of Schwinn. I have ridden the bike three times. I am not a heavy woman and I rode on a paved surface. The whole bike literally fell apart today starting with the gears, followed by the pedals falling off. As I was 14 miles from home this did not make me happy. When I finally made it home I took it to the bike shop and I was told that they could fix it but it was such a cheaply made bike, they could guarantee it would do the same thing again very soon. It went back to Walmart and I bought myself a much better bike, more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Please do not buy this bike, it is pretty, but rubbish.
