Love this bike,Schwinn brings back childhood memories!!
Tremendous packing and/or delivery damage!! To the point were the bike had to be replaced. Unfortunately, the second one was worse!!
I have had the bike a few days and live in PB. The only complaint I have is that it wasn't built very well and needed a quick tune up at the local bike shop. After that, it drove perfectly!
I shopped around for several weeks for a decent bike for off road use (not mountain biking). I purchased the bike online and it was ready for pickup in a few hours. After looking at other brands firsthand and seeing what they offered (and what items they lacked), the Schwinn Clairmont is an exceptional deal. Comes with steel fenders, a back rack, 7 speeds, and front and back hand brakes. I attached a Bell rack to the front to carry additional camping gear (drilled holes in metal strips, attached to front lugs; C-clamp attached to frame). Now I have my wannabe Swiss Army MO-05 bike (lol). At first I was a little disappointed in the plastic wheels in the Shimano gears, but this is standard for nearly all modern bikes. I would have liked a classic spring seat (the one provided has rubber shock mounts). All in all, a great bike and perfect as an inexpensive "bug out vehicle" or just casual cycling.
Picked this up to ride to work on nice days. I wanted something comfortable with a modern gear train and good brakes and full fenders to keep me clean. The very retro styling of this bike and all of it's features was just the ticket. It arrived unassembled as stated and was not hard to put together. Rides comfortably and quietly. Exactly what you want from a cruiser. The addition of 7 gears to a retro cruiser is the best thing. Allowing you to ride without getting tired nearly as easily as a single speed bike. The paint and graphics were good quality. I like that the graphics are small and painted on, not giant stickers. The color combination of glossy black frame, tan seats and handlebars with the red wheels and big black tires is a very nice look. I did have one issue with the bike and that being the shifter assembly was far off from accurate from the factory. It literally took a few hours to get it perfect and I had to pull up a few expert videos on You Tube to finally get it shifting smoothly and quietly. It was poorly assembled at the factory, things were way way off from normal. The brakes also needed basic adjustment, but that went quickly and the bike's manual was enough to help with that. For the current price, this is a good bike to use for the average commute. The luggage rack works great and saves me from having to buy bike specific bags. Two bungee cords hold my lunch bag securely all the way. Had the shifter just needed minor tweaks as expected I'd give this bike five stars. Having to disassemble and adjust the entire mechanism for a long time before riding loses a star.
