Just like all the other reviews stated, it's impossible to assemble this gate. I have wasted a whole lot of time trying to do so. The pre drilled holes are obviously off. Once you place the door on there is not way to latch it. As it's too far away. I've tried everything, literally. Came here to see if I was going crazy. Wish I would have read the reviews before wasting so much time.

I received the Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate and after much confusion gave up putting it together. But don't worry I pretty sure it was all me, because my husband had it together in about 10 minutes! I am better with pictures and just one of the pictures doesn't match up with the gate and that was throwing me off. I also think I am missing a washer but I was able to find the right size in the garage. But other than the assembly I am very happy with the Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate. The gate is very pretty and doesn't stand out too terribly, which is a plus for me. We have it on using the pressure because I don't want holes in the walls or bannister but it seems to suit us quite well. I also like being able to move it around. Not only do I use it at the top of the stairs but I also find it handy at the bottom of the stairs when I don't want the smaller kids to be up the stairs. I also block off the kitchen when I a. Cooking. I've even used it for when I air out the house and can now have the door opened without worrying about the kids walking out the door. Just perfect.

The Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate is one of the sturdiest, well-made safety gates that I've ever used. Not only is it highly functional, but the solid construction and stylish appearance make it all that more appealing. I love this gate and feel like I should have at least two more for other areas of my house. The gate will fit any size opening ranging from 28 to 42". It comes with two extra 'spacers' to help you fit this to your particular size opening. The gate arrived in its manufacturer's box inside another box. It was in perfect condition and had helpful instructions to assist in assembly. From start to finish it took about a half and hour to install, and some of this time was spent trying it out in different doorways to find the best fit. The only tool necessary to have is a Phillip's screwdriver, and possibly a hammer to put the top hinge on the frame, though the hammer wasn't necessary in our case as we tapped it down with the palm of our hands. There are two mounting options, pressure and hardware. The hardware option requires that you screw into your wall. The pressure option allows you to mount it using pressure screws that do not damage your walls. The second option is the one I chose so that I could move the gate from doorway to doorway without causing wall damage. It is helpful to have two people installing the gate, but not necessary. It's just easier if one holds it up while the other attaches spacers and mounting hardware. It's also easier to have two people when you're trying to figure out how many spacers to use for the gate. In our case, we had to swap the spacers around a couple of times to get the proper fit. But this was fairly easy and just a matter of pulling them off the main frame. Once it's installed it's ready to use immediately. Just press the button to release the latch, pull up and swing the door open. I was most impressed with the quality of the metal on this gate. It's not the cheap, easily bendable metal you find in some products. These pieces are heavy and solid and if you use the hardware mounting option, I could easily see how it could actually hold the weight of a small child or animal. Just for the quality of the item alone it's worth it. For the functionality it's even more worth it. I would highly recommend this safety gate if you are looking for a higher quality gate that looks attractive in your home. I am incredibly pleased with how it works and how it looks.

The Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate is one of the more aesthetically pleasing gates on the market. It can be installed either pressure mounted (By screwing out the extensions) or mounted securely with hardware. Since we are using this gate for dogs and have no children in the house we are just pressure mounting it. If you wanted to mount it at the top of the stairs or anywhere a child might climb on it you would want to mount it more securely with the hardware that is included. This gate will expand from 28inches to 42inches making it quite universal as to where it can be used. It is 30inches tall. The gate part itself is arch shaped and the whole thing has an attractive bronze finish. We are quite happy with it, especially since we can move it around or remove it when needed without leaving holes in the wall. We would recommend this gate because it is attractive and can be moved or mounted securely.

I chose this Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate for when my 19 month old granddaughter is visiting. First of all it is a bronze finish and pretty well made and covers openings between 28 to 42 inches, but I was a little disappointed that it's only 28" tall. There are quite a few components to put this gate together and they are labeled A thru T. The assembly instructions are pictures only however they are labeled with the part number and the quantity you will need for the steps. It is not difficult to assemble the gate and to me the only step you'll need help is when you have assembled it and ready to install it between the openings you want to use it. If you want to install at the top of stairs included are wall cups, mounting pads and anchors with pictures that show you how to measure and drill. I did like the lock on the gate but concerned that my granddaughter might figure out to slide and lift. My suggestion is to use this gate between a door opening and not necessarily at the top of stairs, which is where I put it so you'll see it for this review.
