Sun Joe 12.6" Electric Push Lawn Dethatcher + Scarifier, 12 Amps, Adjustable Cutting Height

Machine was a replacement I received for unit AJ801E. That unit broke right before the warranty expired. I received the AJ879E and on the first use, the motor burned up. That happened at about 4000 sf of a 5000 sf lawn. Smoke started coming from the bottom. Also lost most of the power. I pulled the cover off and saw that dead grass was on the inside and completely smothering the motor. That's a design flaw, since my first machine was about out of warranty, this replacement didn't come with a warranty. It's a shame I didn't get to complete my lawn ONCE with this replacement. The machine worked great until it started smoking. There is a vent just below the motor that allows the grass to enter the machine. Ie should have been covered with some type of foam filter.

Dislike the on/off control because it keeps shutting off otherwise its great

Love it love it love it. This lightweight machine does a heavyweight job. Purchased this dethatcher last week, did the yard twice and the amount of dead grass sitting on the lawn was 4 trash cans and (4) 30 gallon bags stuffed to the max. Before the lawn looked tired and matted down and The lawn is greener and all the grass blades are standing up. Dont think twice well worth the price, pick one up and you will also be a believer. If you have a lawn, big or small the electric dethatcher will get it done. after 2 use it will pay for itself…
