Simplicity Boye 3 Piece Scarf Loom Kit Multicolor

First timer and I have learned how to create some beautiful scarves, easily. The directions are complete and easy to understand, a surprise nowadays! My newest addiction! Well made product, sturdy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an experienced knitter (both needle and loom) I thought this would be a fun little activity for days when I want something simple and easy. Boy was I wrong. Just taking the loom out of the box, I discovered a number of spots on the loom where the plastic was rough, which is just begging the yarn to snag on it, espcially since this loom is large guage which means loose knits and not as tightly twisted yarn. Despite all that I attempted to cast on and discovered a new frustration. As a left handed crafter I am used to making some adjustments, however this loom is designed to be strictly right handed. Instead of pegs on each end to hold the yarn when it is not being wound like looms I have used in the past have had, this has one only on one side - the right side. Sure, I can use that, but it gets awkward and annoying and it limits my options if I wanted to try a more advanced pattern. Then I noticed the hooks on each peg. What a horrible idea. Sure, it holds the top loop of yarn in place so it doesn't slip off when working, but then that loop needs to be pushed down. But because the hooks are recessed into the pegs, the tension holds it there and each loop has to be manually pulled down instead of being able to just give the work a downwards tug. This step more than doubles the time needed to work a single row. I ended up relegating the loom to the crafting closet of doom. Maybe I'll find a use for it some day, but it won't be as a knitting loom.
