I love the concept of this chair. It sits high enough so my baby can reach everything and I love the removable tray. However the biggest downfall for this chair is the cleaning. Food gets stuck in the track that allows the chair to rotate, as well as the crease the seat is placed in. Even after wiping it down food remains unless you completely remove the seat which is not time friendly or easy after every feeding. Love this chair but the cleaning is not baby friendly.
My daughter brought this over for me to use with the grandchildren and I avoid using it because it is difficult to clean. I finally figured out a system to get the cover off, and once it is off it is easy to throw in the washer on delicate cycle and then air dry. It is not worth the hassle of getting the cover off and I have another one now that I use much more often.
I used a hook on chair (sassy brand in the 80's and 90's) with our 4 children and loved it! (Didn't have the space for a high chair in the kitchen). So when we needed a seat for our first grandchild I went online and found the Chicco 360 hook on chair. It's great to be able to have them sit at the table with everyone else. I love the 360 turn feature (old hook on chairs did not have this). Makes feeding them easier. I have used it on our island also and they are so happy to be near you while you are preparing food/washing dishes etc. The fabric seat washes nicely in the washing machine on the gentle cycle and hung to dry. The fabric is wipeable so spot cleaning between washing is not a problem. (A seven month old will make a mess with puree food in a high chair just as much as in any seat.) A thin wet cloth cloth fits into the crevice easily to clean out any wet food. Crumbs can be vacuumed away from the crevice and seat area. The tray washes easily and is great to keep the food from getting under the "arms" of the seat. Very portable and easy to store when not in use. High chairs take up a lot of space even after you no longer need it. I love this seat! We are now using it for grandchild #2. If you are having any problems utilizing this seat refer to product manual (it's online if you don't have it). I agree with STLL lady's review including "it's more practical than a high chair, worth every penny and then some"!
Our 7 month old baby is just starting to eat and we are letting her explore the food as well as us spoon feed her. The seat is horrid to clean the purees out of, it says hand wash only, but the food will not come off unless it goes into the washing machine. Taking the seat on/off is no easy task, while not hard, it is definitely a two-handed job, so not something you can do while holding the baby. The swivel is a great feature, however food gets stuck in the swivel crevice and there is no way to get it out without a toothpick or toothbrush...who wants to spend that much time cleaning a highchair when you have a baby to care for... Not me. I can see this being useful for an older child that has learned how to eat and has minimal spills. I don’t think we can return it because we’ve used it and washed it but I wish we could.
Since we practically live at our island, it was a great way to have our youngest at the "table" even thought he's still very little. I'm looking forward to using this when he gets bigger instead of a having a high chair taking up space in the kitchen!
