Littermaid Elite Mega Self-cleaning Cat

I received this product on 10 June 2011. I put it together which was easy. I put the littermaid litter in it and measured it for the correct amount, I turn it on and the rake turned side ways and got stuck a quarter of the way down and the motor quit working. I was so upset with this product, I took it back to the store. I wonder if this item passed a inspection before being sent out. I bought the classic model which better on construction but to small for my cat. I would not buy or recommend the (lLME9000) at all.

I bought this product late February. Wal-Mart was great with the ship to store, but I didn't even have my litter box set up a full week before it started giving me problems. The motor got stuck on the opposite end, my plastic piece that lifts the lid to the recepticle container did not click properly into my litter box. I called the customer service line and they sent me a new piece and walked me through a process on how to get my motor to move again. It turns out there is a little hidden button to push when you take the top off...good thing to know b/c mine has stopped A LOT. I have just about had it with my machine. I know that I may have just gotten a bad one out of the bunch, but I am disappointed. I thoroughly researched this product before I purchased it and read a lot of reviews and saw a lot of positive reviews. At this point, I think it would be easier and less stressful to just keep and use the old litter box because I spend more time taking care of the "high-tech" litter box than I do just cleaning out the traditional box. The one that was sent to me in the mail didn't work, I am having to box the thing back up and mail it back to Walmart and I'm getting an exchange and praying that it will work. If it works, then I will give a better review. I was so disappointed. Probably some manufacturer defect.

This truly is a great product. And it is so easy to take care of, whoever thought of this is a genius.

I've only had this for just over 2 weeks and my cats think it's a toy. Sometimes they stand on the lids so the rake can't rake it into the disposal so it will try again. They also seem to be going more than they did before I think so it will go off, they both come running when it starts to rake. Hoping they tire of it soon as I have had to clean the box for them since they wont let the lid open to dispose of the waste.
