I can not find this product except at Walmart.com and it is the only cat litter my cats will use
If you expect this litter to be hard clumps like clay litter, you surely will be disappointed. But you have to remember that this is made of wood && is much healthier for your cat. Like the box says, whatever is stuck on their feet or fur, etc. they will eat. && I would rather have my cat eating natural wood versus clay && chemicals. Now, with that being said, this is the best litter I have ever tried. With my cat, when he was a kitten, I couldn't use a clumping litter because it would get stuck to his feet quite often. So I had to use regular clay litter that doesn't clump && omg, the smell was horrible. Finally when I could use clumping litter as he got older, I switched to the clay clumping one && although I kept up with it, the ammonia was still pretty bad after only days. That is what made me turn to this one. True, it doesn't control odor like the chemical litters but if you keep up with it, in my opinion, you can help reduce the odor. But the odor doesn't smell that bad. It smells like wood. No strong ammonia if you keep up with it, like I said earlier. I tried Mimi crystalized litter (or whatever its called) && I find it to be worse than this brand. With Mimi, it controls odor but while cleaning the litter box, the ammonia was just as bad as the other cl.ay brands. Feline Pine doesn't have dust either, so that's another plus. && the value for your money is undeniable. With other brands, I would go through twice as much litter. This one box will last much longer && its cheap. The down side with this litter, the mess my cat tracks around. I'm guessing its easier to track along my rug because its light?? But its nothing my vacuum can't clean up. Other than that, I would recommend this to my friends && family because this takes your dollar pretty far if you're willing to put up with a few downsides. Remember, this is much healthier for your cat && if you love your cat the way that I love mine, then the few flaws is worth it for his health.
I no longer wanted to breathe the dust from clay litter and I wanted something I could add to flowerbeds when I changed out the litter, so I looked for a more natural product. My cats did not like the non clumping version of Feline Pine but they switched to this clumping formula with no problems. I mix it half and half with Arm and Hammer Essentials, a corn-based clumping litter, and that makes this closer to a normal clumping litter in texture. Otherwise it is pretty much like sawdust. I do have to be more careful while scooping than with clay since the clumps are softer, but I do not find that to be a problem. The first few weeks I added a small amount of clay litter, and that did make the clumps harder. I love the smell of this product. Compared to clay litter the mixture of feline pine clumping litter and corn-based litter is very soft, but because it is much lighter it does track more easily than clay litter does. The flip side of this is that the box of litter is much lighter than a comparable box of clay litter, so it is easier to bring back from the store, up the stairs, etc.. I am hoping that the used litter mixed into flowerbeds will help to improve the clay gumbo soil we have here in Texas. It could also probably be added to a compost bin.
