I an 6 feet tall and weigh 230 pounds. The Ironman ATIS 4000 Inversion Table is rock solid, even at my size and weight. It takes seconds to set up to my height and a couple extra seconds to secure my ankles. This unit, while not portable, can be carried from room to room if your doorways are 3 feet wide. This unit does not shake or have a flimsy feel to it. There are no creaks and it does not deflect when using it. The backboard is well padded and has a rigid metal box frame underneath that allows crunches from an inverted position--not that I can do it at this point :-) It's a piece of actual gym furniture, like a commercial exercise bicycle, that weighs roughly 100 pounds. The ratchet handle, that locks you into place is extremely easy to use. My kids immediately got used to using it.
Gym quality item. Keep in mind that this does not store easily. Boots keep you safely locked in, but are not the most comfortable when barefoot or wearing just socks. Bottom line, my back thinks it's awesome.
Very sturdy unit. Very comfortable when tilted back. The back rest is well padded and very comfortable, and I am over 6 feet tall. The "smart gear" locking/release is really easy to use and allows for adjusting the degree of tilt easily. The feet/ankles locking mechanism is easy to lock; however, a bit cumbersome to unlock; though, its well padded and comfortable. Well worth the extra price compare to other brands that are of less sturdy construction. It takes over an hour to assemble.
After unpacking the table for assembly, I discovered that the bedrest, the metal piece that holds the body board, was bent at the top where the headboard is mounted. It appears to have occurred when the crossbar was welded on. Therefore, I rated this item low because (1) there was no way I could have bolted on the headboard, (2) I didn't feel it was safe, and (3) the item was very heavy and cumbersome to return. I submitted a request online to return the material and didn't have an issue at the local Walmart.
Once the table was assembled it was used immediately. I found immediate relief. I don't know why I never bought an inversion table in the past. The Ironman 4000 is sturdy and easy to use. I thought the drink holder was useless since it's an inversion table but it has one for those who may use it for just standing on the unit. I thought the price was high but once I experienced the relief in my back and the years of use it will endure the price seemed fair.
