Procter Silex 5th Burner Table Top Burner

I got this burner as a single person doing basic cooking and it works greAt in the beginning but about 4 minutes into cooking the burner will shut off and then wait While before it will reheat. It took me 30 minutes to sauté some veggies

First, I have to say I had this exact model for about three years and it finally gave out. However, considering what I paid for it, I don't mind if I have to get a new one every three years. It has handled everything I've thrown at it - frozen vegetables, reheating leftovers, boiling water for tea, boiling water and maintaining it boiling while cooking frozen, etc. I tried other units when mine died and I had to return them. They could not live up to the power this unit has. It's 1000W - that's not tremendous, but it's more than some others on the market. Of course there are higher wattage models too, but this unit does the trick for me. I actually bought a spare because in another three plus years who knows if I'd be able to find it. It is well made from steel, no plastic. It is very sturdy and well constructed. Of course the metal gets hot during use so be careful. And as I mentioned, watch the price... in less than a week it went up 300%... yes, three times the price I paid. Shop around.

I needed something to heat big pots of water at my shop and keep the mess out of the house. This unit will work well.

Light weight portable

This works perfect for me as I have a glass top stove and hated the way it cooked my eggs. This makes them just the way I want them! I haven't cooked anything else on it yet but even if I just use it to make eggs it was well worth it to me!
