I knew what I was buying and now that Kolpin has put a rubber gasket in the cap it does not leak if installed right. On the 4 gallon container make sure you have a place for it to fit.

It leaks. The velcro straps are not sturdy for trail riding, you definitely need the mounts that come seperate. Looking for them. We tried to put a tow strap around it and that didn't stop it from moving. Spend quite a bit a money for a leaky product. You're better off with a regular gas can. Niffty idea but not built tough enough.

I bought 2 of these and we assumed that they were designed properly - once we were near our destination, we filled them with fuel - only to find that they leaked horribily - both of them - luckily there was a napa store close so that we could get some seals but we are sending these back - what a bad product....

this tank works once if you can get it to seal. the second time it won't seal. for the price you'd think this would seal but it leaks gas pretty bad.

The spout could have been built better. There were several times the spout needed to be tightened because leaks developed. Gas leaks are not fun! A pair of channel-lock pliers are helpful to tighten the shout enough to stop the leaks. The four included velcro straps should only be used as a backup. I used two ratchet straps to keep the pack from shifting because when full the pack weights 32lbs. The price was $25 less than compared to my local Cabelas and Sportsman's Warehouse. Overall I'm happy with the product and would have rated it higher except for the spout problems, but those were resolved eventually.
