TomTom NAVIGATOR 130S Automobile Portable GPS Navigator

If your looking for a GPS that will get you there without the costly frills this is it. It will get you to your destination but you have to glance at the screen as well listening to the speech. Since this modestly priced unit does not announce the next street to turn on you must watch the monitor for the distance to the next turn, right or left, and move to the proper lane accordingly. Once I got used to doing this I haved not missed the costly speech option. My only negative statement is that Tom Tom wants to sell you map update subscriptions. I think an inexpensive update on demand would serve the purpose and probably steer more customers their way. Oh yea, this unit is small enough to place in your shirt pocket and use while walking or taking public transportation.

I loved this GPS! I`m looking to buy a new one (exactly the same). I just gave 4 stars because after 26 days it just shut off and it didn`t turn on again. I really think something was wrong with this one, not with all of 130s. So it`s a good product, but next time maybe I`ll buy an extra warranty, just in case!!!!

This is a great GPS unit for the price, particularly if you are looking for text-to-speech functionality. You have to use the computer voices instead of the other voice options in order to get the text to speech. It would be neat if you could use the other voices too, but hey the price is great. I use the computer voice for street names when taking road trips or going to new cities or unfamilar places. If I'm using it to get to a new place around town I use the british voice because I'm pretty familiar with street names even if I've never been to the particular destination before.

My 2nd one. Can hear instructions fine as long as kids aren't screaming in the back and radio isn't blasting. Love the way it holds to the windshield, no padded tray necessary. May not hold as well in the winter but will deal with problem when it arises. Like to hear the street names, past product didn't do this. Always know where you're going so you'll have no surprises. Just traveled to and from Michigan, Houston, Galveston and San Antonio with this gadget and it always got me into the right lane and the location I choose.

I am an elderly ladie with a hard time with directions. Since my family bought this TOMTOM for me I don't have the panicky feeling about getting lost. Now I am free to travel about with the confidence that I can always find my way back home without frantic calls to my family. I really like the improvement of adding the street names to the turning diredtions.
