Better Homes & Gardens Madden Black Outdoor Tabletop Tiki Torch

We live near the beach and every day is a windy day. But we also live near protected wet lands, so every day is giant mosquito day. I am always looking for anything that will keep those pesky little mosquitoes at bay. We have tried the stand up yard torches, but the wind always blows them out and good luck even trying to get a candle lit out there. I was so impressed when I first lit this tabletop torch. From the minute I took it out of the package. It has a very rough texture (like cement) so i knew it would be durable out in the salty air. The metal canister inside has a wide mouth, so filling it with citronella oil was easy to do without making a mess. The wick is very thick and dense and lit right away with a standard camping lighter. That shocked me. It usually takes several tries in the wind. It put off a pretty big flame with very little smoke. At night it lit up our patio pretty good all on its own. We left it burning for several hours to see how well it would withstand the heavy winds and it never went out. I was really impressed. We saw a few mosquitoes, but it definitely helped keep some away. I think if i get two more of these, it will be perfect for our size patio. When we were ready to go to bed, I used the attached metal snuffer to extinguish the flame. So not only does this little torch work, it looks really great. It s a cute decorative piece that adds to our current decor.

This Better Homes & Gardens 6" Madden Ceramic Outdoor Tabletop Torch works great. It looks great on my outdoor table set. Once filled, it's long lasting. It's really been helping to keep the bugs away when I'm enjoying the outdoors. It's also very easy to light. I would get this torch again.

I grew up in the late 50's and 60's, when street construction crews would use large black smudge pot torches to alert people to stay away from the areas being worked on. While those were metal and much larger, this ceramic tabletop torch reminded me so much of them! This modern version is ceramic and measures 4.5 inch in diameter by 6 inches tall (this includes the metal 'snuffer cap'. The surface of the container has a black chalky finish, so hopefully it will be durable. The finish does give it the appearance or wrought iron - which is what I think the vintage torch pots were made of. I used Tiki Torch oil in the metal fuel container, which holds 135 ml (about 4.75 fluid ounces). You just pop the lid with the wick into the fuel container, wait a few minutes and light it up! Simply put the attached metal snuffer cap over the wick and the flame goes out immediately. This tabletop torch would be great for given your outdoor décor a rustic feel. I'd love to see a larger version of this tabletop model, but in the meantime, I'm going to get several more!

I received this tabletop torch in good condition. It was well packed. The design is simple and charming. I like the shiny specs on the otherwise matte background. I like it better than being completely matte, and if it is left outside – it is less likely to show any ware. The texture feels a bit gritty but no big deal. It is small and not going to take up much space on your surface. The lamp has a medium weight to it and will weigh more once you fill it up with fuel. I do not get the impression it is going to blow off in the wind or be easily knocked off of a disturbed table. It comes with a fiberglass wick already inserted and you can easily buy more on the Walmart website. You will have to purchase fuel type (Lamp or Citronella oil) separately to use the torch. The cap / flame snuffer looks great as part of the design, and functions as intended. Overall, the torch has a lovely design with fantastic intent: keep the bugs away! And the lamp is refillable and reusable, so no waste. It will look a lot nicer than your average citronella candle too, out on the deck or patio. A great new gift idea - the gift of mosquito-free outdoors! As a gift, I would pair with the fuel needed to use.

This tabletop torch is very cool and modern. It's black and so, goes with every decor. It will look cool sitting on my patio table in my backyard to keep the bugs away, but also give a nice glow from the flame. Can't wait until it's warm enough to use it.
