True to size, soft, washes and wears well, seems well made. They are not thin, not thick. Just right. I actually use them for around the house lounging. I would have given them another star except they do have the old tags on them, which are not sewn in, so eventually they will probably wear off and then be itchy around the glued area which never comes completely off.
It's hit or miss with this type of clothing. Usually buy one size up and washing it will shrink slightly. On top of that you have to take care when removing and putting on. As this is a thin layer of cloth and can tear if you man handle it on and off. As for cold temperatures the thermal top and bottom make great insulators against the bitter cold. A set usually lasts me two seasons, and for the price it's well worth it. If you need something warmer then upgrade to something thicker and possibly wool. Just be prepared to pay for it.
I live in Alabama. Used to live in Michigan 'til age 55. These are suitable for "medium" cold weather. That is maybe 20 degree weather with a mild wind of say 10 mph. Definitely NOT for "deep" cold weather below those temps. I used to work as a letter carrier in Detroit for 28 yrs. These are NOT suited to wear (and keep you warm) in the winter months in the northern states unless you double up on them and wear two pair. That said, they are warm enough for "moderate" winter weather and of course a large part of their effectiveness depends on the pants you wear over them. I wear jeans and that makes them suitable for the weather I've described. And at 5 bucks each (online-site to store) they're reasonably priced.
I ordered 2 pair of these, and both were ripped in the groin area. Same place so I think it must be rejected in quality control as to why they sell them for 5.00. However; I would send them back if they were not so cheap. You get what you pay for. Good thing I don't wear these but once in a while. Sub Sub zero weather.
The material was very cheap and clearly will not last; so I returned them. And going by their own size chart for fitting, the underwear was completely incorrectly sized. I had to go to Amazon.com in order to find a good pair of long Johns and the proper fit.
