Convenient for under-the-sink collection of kitchen scraps! The charcoal filter works well too, and I've had very few fruit flies proliferate. Those have been a problem for me in the past, and although I still keep a little DIY fruit fly trap next to it, it's getting a lot less business than it would if the filters didn't work.Easy to open, good size, and the plastic liner, which I was afraid was a bag, is actually a bucket with its own handle. Easy to remove, clean, and of course, reusable.A happy purchase.
Totally rusted despite careful cleaning and drying. We have had this just over a year but it started rising around the base pretty quickly. Now the entire thing including the handle is totally rusted. I like the look and the size but need a compost bin that lasts.
This compost bin was just as described. it arrived on time and looks so cute on our kitchen counter. No one will ever guess what's inside. We manage to fill it about every 3 days with coffee grounds and veggie peels. We did order the compostable liner bags to make it easier to clean. I love that the black bucket insert lifts out for easy dumping. I'd order this again and again. But I don't think I'll have to , it's made very well.
I had a glass compost bin but the top cracked and it became a planter. I went with this one as it is metal. I like the inner plastic bin. It is easy to clean. Easy to empty. Light weight. Its taller than our old one and holds more but still fits on the counter under the cabinets.
...I have fruit flies. The filter is not quite big enough to fit snugly in the lid to keep out the fruit flies. It's easy to clean, and the filter is easy enough to take out/change, and it's a great size for the counter top, but I ended up having to tape up the holes to keep the flies away, and they STILL try to get in around the area where the lid meets the bucket.Unfortunately, fruit flies are our biggest pest issue in our home, so I'll be looking for an airtight container for my scraps.
