Excellent embroidery machine. I'm new to machine embroidery and this model is perfect for me. Easy to learn and stitches out perfectly. All Brands just opened a store in Austin Texas so it is easy to get supplies and help. This machine has lots of high end features without the high end price tag.
This is a great machine, especially for the price. I upgraded to the NQ1700E from the SE1900, which i also loved. The 6 x 10 hoop, the jump thread cutter and the larger display are game changers. I also love the WiFi/USB option and the foot lever button. My only critic would be that the machine is noisier than my previous machine.
I am a beginner in the world of embroidery. I initially spent countless hours on You Tube and the majority of the machines that stood out were all Brother. As a result I chose the NQ1700E because of the hoop sizes, the features and the price. I have been working on a labor intensive embroidery project with hours of stitching and continue to love this machine! I would highly recommend it.
This is a wonderful machine! We are newbies to embroidery. We first got the 435 smaller machine with Disney designs on board. The hoop was only 4 X4 and was great to get started. We got totally hooked on embroidery and wanted larger hoops, auto jump thread cutting, WIFI transfer, and a host of other cool features. This fit the bill and works flawlessly. It was well worth the investment. I'm running out of clothes to "draw" on... lol. Anyone want a 435 to get started?
I have had this machine for 5 months and I absolutely love it. Bonus … it is so quiet compared to my previous machine. This is my second Brother embroidery “only” machine. I upgraded to this model firstly, for the automatic clipping of jump stitches. Secondly, a larger embroidery area, I now have the option of being able to embroider larger designs with the 6”x 10” hoop. It is so convenient to be able to do designs with the 2 hoops sizes Brother included with this machine, the 5”x7” and the 6”x10”hoops. December 2022, my awesome NQ1700E was operating full time, during my waking hours; for 3 weeks!! I used metallic threads, Glitter sheet vinyl and Luxe sparkle vinyl, all without issues. I did slow down my machine to its lowest speed, adjusted tensions accordingly to stitch density etc., which I normally do for all of my projects. Other materials it handles beautifully, that are not commonly used are Tulle and Organza. One thing I discovered early on with Brother is to use Organ needles and always check your newly purchased Brother Bobbins, (as with anything, items can be faulty, if you find ANY nick or ridge/rough spot on the inner/outer portion of the bobbin …. Do Not Use! …. Trust me, it will safe yourself a lot of grieve.). One thing I have not tried with this machine is the Wireless option to transfer designs from my computer to the embroidery machine. One needs the ‘Design Data Base Transfer' to do so. Unfortunately “this app is NOT compatible”with my Apple devices! hopefully Brother updates to make all devices compatible. However, there are some issues! CONS: 1. Jump stitch clipping: I am frequently finding the bobbin area or the underside of the embroidery item, to be “messy thread knots or small thread nests”, where the jump stitch has been clipped. (Yes, keeping the bobbin case clean prevents this …. sadly not)! It is necessary to clean up any unsightly thread knots or wee nests, specially for the construction of free standing lace and free standing items …. as these items are visible from both sides!! I do many of these. 2. Brother, PLEASE, make cleaning possible of the upper thread feeding area, (that is presently under permanent machine cover). Thread dust, metallic thread bits, etc., could be stuck to a disc/wheel that the thread feeds through and is most likely the problem for many upper thread issues! 3. Brother, PLEASE … make all DEVICES compatible regarding design transfers to our embroidery machines. 4. Lastly, PLEASE, …. Allow all Brother embroidery machine owners eligible for access to iBroidery!!! Not only limited to USA customers! In closing, yes I do LOVE my machine and yes, I highly recommend the Brother Innovi-s NQ1700E.
