Mats are awful and expensive! Wished I hadn't upgraded from Model 350 due to auto cut is not accurate. First cut was with cardstock and it cut thru mat! The only things I like about this machine is the wifi capability, free software, and the scanning function. Mats loose tackiness after 5 cuts. Mats are too expensive compared to similar cutting machines.
Used to cut vinyl an scan art work. The Auto Blade cuts too deep, consequently cuts mat, which are priced too high for quality. Scanner seems to function well. Downloadable software drastically needs revamping, way too hard to locate tools to create/adjust designs. Machine should be designed to interrupt n cut SVG's files.
The machine cut ok for a few months, I was only cutting paper and vinyl... then all the problems started. First the machine wouldn't cut evenly around an outlined design, leaving way to much space in some parts and none in others. I tried recalibrating the machine too many times to count, cleaned the rollers, the mat and the spinners, went through troubleshooting and online videos and articles, nothing has fixed it. The blade started shredding my paper designs, I cleaned the blade, nothing, so I replaced the blade, and the machine was still ruining most of my designs. Then, the mat started to jamb, a clean new mat and the machine would just warp it because one side of the feeder would spin but not the other! Again cleaned everything including the back of the mat, the rollers and the black rubber grips and nothing works! So now the spinners only spin when they feel like it, the mat can't be loaded when they don't work, even if they spin it just crumples the mat and gets stuck. I don't even believe the good reviews, my Scan n Cut is defective and customer support is useless, their solutions are the same as the ones you find on line and ultimately to bring it to a repair shop in your area. My machine is less than a year old and I haven't cut anything out of the ordinary, the machine is clean and I read every article and watched videos before an while using, so as to not make mistakes. I would never recommend a Brother product, just a huge waste of money!
I purchased this machine to help reduce my "fussy" cutting on craft projects due to arthritis and time. I have only had the machine a brief time so I have not had time to experience all the great things this machine can do. It does a wonderful job of scanning items and then cutting them out. The few projects I made turned out wonderfully and I am looking forward to learning to do more things with the machine. I love the fact that it connects with my other electronics via blue tooth.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Brother in exchange for review. I'm always wanting custom made shirt for my kids and this machine has saved me so much time and money! I can make them myself and the machine was preset with plenty of cutouts. The products works wonderfully and I've had no issue yet. It's easy to use and understand!
