In his first season with the New Jersey Nets, Jason Kidd helped turn the New Jersey Nets from an unsuccessful franchise into the Eastern Conference leaders. Kidd led the Nets to their first NBA Finals appearance in 2002, where the 7-time All-Star player faced Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. At the 2004 All Star Game, Kidd and Kobe collided once again under the hoop, with Kidd defending Bryant on the perimeter.
