I bought this as Bare Minerals have discontinued the 10 Medium shade, I have the 9 and not quite right so now have the 11 shade, why have you made all the new shades with an orange hue? They all look so unnatural now and cheap, I have used and loved your products and brand for years and now feel all of your shades are very orangey, such a shame
I used to wear this powder foundation, is light but with great coverage, then I changed to another brand for years(liquid foundation). Now I wanted this foundation cause it has great coverage and has a nice finish. It's perfect for everyday use, plus it saves you a lot of time since the application is simple. Well, after a few years without using it and now living in a place with little sunny days, I don't have a physical store so I decided to buy online. I didn't know which color to choose. I consulted at bareminerals.com a recommendation for which was my color by entering the 2 different foundations I am using and the page(bareminerals) in both cases recommended golden tan 20. I ordered this, and is extremely dark, and I look a little grayish. I'm sure I am at least 2 shades lighter than the recommendation. So I loose my money. Was'nt expecting perfect match cause every foundation in this world has different undertones and mixes and when you can't try them on person is pretty hard to get that perfect match. But 2 o 3 shades above to my real shade is too much. Sad.
I have been using this for a couple of years and being very pale this foundation was a revelation to me, a game changer. I tried for years to find a pale foundation to cover my problems (chloasma, vitaligo, general dark spots etc) but with no joy, the only ones I could find gave me an 'ashen' look. My approach had been to find a foundation that both concealed and gave me a bit of colour, so nothing ever worked as they were too 'white' or too 'orange' for my complexion. Finding Fairly Light was a godsend and I will never change. However, move on a couple of years and my 12 year old is suffering from really bad skin. She was becoming increasingly upset and withdrawn and lost all her confidence, covering up her face with her hand, concealer and a BB cream (none decent quality as you would expect from a 12 year old). The worse the breakouts came, the more product was needed to cover, the more clogged the skin; you know the cycle. After one harrowing day when a 'friend' called her 'Pizza Face' it was time to intervene (she would never have listened to my advice until it got to this point, as we know 12 year olds know everything!). I persuaded her to use my BM foundation for a week, that's all. If after the week she wanted to 'convert' I would fund her BM make up. This is the ONLY thing in her skin care routine she changed, nothing else. Day 1 she was pleased that blemishes were covered and that she looked natural, like she had no foundation on. Day 2 improvements to the skin were visible to all, spots clearing up and no new breakouts. Day 5 was full of comments from so many people about how her skin was clearing up she swore on the BM bible (my foundation) that this was IT for her. Day 14 and there are so few blemishes it is incredible to believe where we were on Day 1, I only wish I had photos but she was too sensitive to allow them to be taken. Her skin is improving all the time but more importantly, the delicate balance of a 12 year old's confidence has been restored to the point where 'selfies' are taking place. This is the most important thing for me, I spent my teenage years hiding my face and mumbling behind my hand and I was determined she should not suffer the same fate. We will shortly be at the point where she does not need to wear foundation as there will be nothing to cover up. Thank You BM from the both of us. We are both converted.
I have been looking for the perfect foundation for my shade and skin tone forever. I use to use Prescriptives Custom Blend (bespoke makeup) which is made for you for many years until they went out of business. I tried just about everything and settled on Mac. I have problematic skin, the texture is rough and uneven and I have a great many blemishes and dark pigmentation which is something black people can suffer with. I wear foundation every day and it would take me 20 minutes every morning just applying concealer and foundation to cover up all the discolouration. WELL now it takes me only around 3 minutes to apply foundation and highlighter. I can't believe how this foundation (I use Original SPF in warm dark has totally changed my life. My face looks so smooth and bright and it covers every single blemish with me just using a tiny amount. I have never found a foundation that matches my skin tone so closely not even the prescriptives. I used to dream about having the skin that I now have and cried when I first put it on and my sister told me that my skin looked flawless and how perfect the shade was as she knows how depressed and demoralised I felt because of my skin. It is just so easy to apply I bought the full size kabuki brush and so apply it with that. It goes on like an absolute dream with such little effort and apart from a couple of touch-ups during the day, (necessary as I have long loose hair and it tends to wipe my make up off# pretty much stays intact for the working day. I never go dry or looked caked. I originally bought the matte version and hated it as found it too dry for me and flat and it lacked luminosity which the original version has .I ended up buying it from Selfridges as they were the only ones happy to give samples for you to take away and try. Samples were hard to come by as to me you really need to see how it wears all day/what it looks like at different times of the day/what happens when it oxidizes with your natural face oils etc. I went to Debenhams and John Lewis and was told both times that they don't do samples so I ended up buying the golden dark as it was applied in store and thought it looked good until the next morning when I put it on at home and looked as if I had been tangoed, way too orange for my skin shade. So a costly mistake as I then went back two days later #Selfridges this time) and purchased the correct shade after using samples for 2 days, which they happily supplied. True some people are just looking for a bit of free supply and have no intention of buying but you should be able to work out who is genuine and if not to err on the side of giving samples. If the product is amazing and BM certainly is that, you should give samples and let people go home and try for themselves, away from the store lights and persuasive sale techniques. Apart from the sample issue this makeup is truly amazing and I will never ever go back to liquid foundation. Plus my skin seems to be clearing up and has never looked better. I'm blown away by all the pros of this makeup. I really can't find one downside to the actual product. Everyone should give it a try but as have read on here getting the correct brush is key. I don't use the primetime and it still works amazingly well for me as always find primers too dry for my skin, but that's just me. I also don't use the tinted veil powder and use my Ben Nye powders which are really fine and works well with the BM.
I'm all for trying new products that claim to be natural and good for your skin, so when I read constant good reviews about bareminerals foundation I wanted to try it. It's very quick and easy to apply, the coverage is easily buildable without looking cakey but on my skin it doesn't completely cover up blemishes and breakouts. One thing I love is that you don't have to use a lot at all, which is good considering the amount you get for £25. The brushes are extremely soft but quite a few bristles fell out whilst using. My mixed opinions come from the fact it doesn't look as flawless as my other current foundation but it is definitely worth a try if you're looking for a quick, easy and more natural foundation.
