With initial orders from American and United Airlines the DC-10 was initially launched in February of 1968 and first flew on August 29 1970 as the DC-10-10. The 250-300 seat DC-10 directly competed with Lockheed s L-1011 so McDonnell Douglas looked for ways to enhance the DC-10 s performance. On June 21 1972 the more improved version flew and was designated the DC-10-30. In 1984 the last DC-10 rolled off the production line on which 446 units were manufactured.- SKU: DARON1639
