It's easy for kids to start making bugs. Just pour the plasti-goop compound in the bug molds and turn up the heat. When it's done baking, take out the cooling tray, let them cool, and voila -- they've got creepy creatures to gross out their friends. Buggin' Out Making the bugs is half the fun! The set comes with three distinctly different plasti-goop colors, encouraging kids to come up with festive or freaky new bug combinations. Using the goop FX detailing pens and three detailing tips, bug-makers can scorch the shades and shapes of each scorpion claw and every wormy body segment. A goop FX pick is also included for pulling the bugs out of the trays. Twice the Fun in Half the Time The new and improved Creepy Crawlers creates up to 40 bugs -- twice as many twisted creatures in just half the time. The brightly colored oven is almost as fun as the bug-making process itself, with a gross wriggling crawler on top for inspiration. There are also bug-covered holders on the sides that store the double-use spatula and cooling tray. Made with durable plastic, the oven, trays, and spatula are child-safe and stand up to hours of experimentation in the bug laboratory. This classic boy's toy is recommended for kids 8 to 12 years old. The oven requires a 60-watt small base light bulb, sold separately, but available in virtually any grocery store. my son is 8 and was really excited to make all the bugs - which turn out pretty well. this toy really requires adult supervision because it gets HOT and requires a steady hand to load and unload the baking plates. also, my son doesn;t yet have the dexterity to squeeze the gels into the mold precisely. his creatures still turned out cool but nothing like the ones on the package. The safety feature is nice (wont open until it cools down).

For one, you have to buy a light bulb in order to use the oven because it does not come with one. I bought this for my son for Christmas and we tried using our own oven because we did not have the light bulb yet. The paint/glue is not as easy to use as it looks and it runs together.

Bought for 11 yr. old granddaugter, we made them together and really had fun. The oven has a good safety feature where you can't open oven until mold cools down completely. Can take about 15 minutes. She had the patience to wait, but my 6 year old grandson did not, he seemed to lose interest after a while, she did not, she just started making another one. Probably depends on the child. I also would trust her to play with on her own, but younger than 8, probably not.

I purchased this product 6 months ago and the kids still love playing with it. I have a 5yr old and 2 yr old. Even my husband enjoys it. The goop is easy to pour into the molding trays and the wait time is not to long. However, it is hard to find refill goop and extra molding trays to create different bugs. Otherwise it is a very entertaining product for the kids and not messy.

My children love this bug maker, but unfortunately you can't find the refill goop at wal-mart stores or on walmart.com. If you sell the product you should sell the refills for it. My children are very dissapointed that they can't play with it until I can search online somewhere & find refills.
