First Alert 0.3 Cubic Ft. Steel Security Box with Electronic Lock, 3035DF

Loved the idea of being able to put full sheets of papers in the safe. This is the second try I returned my first safe because of damage, now I have received the second unit, and the batteries were omitted. Also, the instructions for setting numerical code the instructions are written does not explain that once the light goes on you must open immediately or otherwise it stays locked. After much frustration and being able to overcome the lack of batteries and poor instructions, the safe fits my needs.

Just set the code which is very simple. Put your items in. Close the lid and turn to lock. To open simply enter your code then the star and you turn the knob to open. Easy!

This safe has the appearance of something that is extremely secure, and it will do the job in keeping things away from my kids. I fear that anybody with a reasonable amount of adult strength could pry the top off at the place where it locks since that seems to be made out of some form of plastic rather than the metal it should be made from. The electronic combination lock seems to work well and does provide a lot of options when it comes to picking a secret code. If you forget the code or you'd rather just use the key, the safe comes with two keys that will override the code and open the lock. If you're not a big turkey fan, there's a rubber gasket that you can put over the keyhole. It's more of a cosmetic thing but it is kind of nice. I wouldn't keep bearer bonds or anything quite that valuable in this device, but for some papers that you don't want to lose or medicine that you want to keep away from a kids or maybe even a smaller computer, this box will certainly do the job. Just to be clear, this is not a Fireproof device. It looks like it might be fire resistant based on the fact that the Box structure is metal but if heaven forbid there was a fire a, I would expect to find very little of what would be inside this box. A word to the wise colon make sure the item you buy is marked as fireproof and probably a bit more expensive than this one if you want protection from fire.

Decent product for storing, easy to use. Not heavy enough to deter someone from walking off with it, but useful to keep people in your home out and money/items safe.

The product came damaged through the mail. I was a little upset but did not have time to return it for my son needed it for school. So it came dented on the bottom. - Not sure if someone returned it and then Walmart resold it or the carrier dented it when things get tossed around.
