Love that these are double-A batteries (instead of 9V) and that they have Photelectric and Ionizatiin sensors. Installed easy. Can't vouch for their ability to sense a fire (thankfully).

I purchased this specifically because it stated in the item description that you can "•Mute false alarms remotely" I have never seen this claim before and thought this was great as we have a VERY high ceiling in our living room. When a false alarm goes off, I literally have to get on a ladder to hit the mute button. Can I change the location of the alarm, yes, but then I will have holes in my knotty pine wood paneled ceiling, so it's best to just keep the alarm in the same space. ANYWAY, I got this in the mail, looked at the package and no where did it say silence it remotely. I tried looking in the clamshell package without opening it and saw the manual and there was space for a remote, so I opened it. Upon opening the package, there was no remote and the instructions say nothing about muting false alarms remotely. You have to hit the silence button on the alarm - that's not remotely. So now I have an alarm that is more expensive than the alarm I am replacing that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I can't return it because it's open and they did not even send any invoice/receipt in the box. It might be a good alarm, but if you are buying this for the remote silence, don't bother!
