I went out on a limb and purchased these for a family vacation thinking that younger kids (<10) are hard on spoons (particularly when eating ice cream) and I didn't want to have to replace the spoon or even the plate/bowl of food when a lower quality spoon broke. We have used these spoons annually for 4 family vacations now (plus some daily uses) and we have NEVER had one break. We would even occasionally use one of these spoons to scoop ice cream straight from the carton and it would do OK, but I wouldn't recommend it all the time. We used this product with the Dixie Ultra paper bowls and never had one of those fail either. I believe the quality of the spoon is extremely high, having no complaints whatsoever of its strength. If I had to find a negative (other than it being double the price of its medium weight counterpart), the only thing I can think of is that the curvature of the spoon doesn't fit the roof of my mouth as comfortable as I would like, but I believe that if you changed this it would effect the overall strength of the spoon. This is not a reason to not purchase this item though. I would highly recommend this spoon for heavier jobs (like ice cream) but it is overkill for soup, cereal, or other lighter consistency items.
My wife and I have a Shaved Ice Business and these spoons are what we use without any problems, I have tried less expensive ones and they tend to snap because of the sudden cold they are subjected to. A little pricey when you can go through five-hundred plus in a day, but they are worth it when you want to provide a quality product to your customers.
These are mostly used by folks in the office to eat stuff like yogurt. They work fine for that purpose but not sure how well they would hold up to harder stuff, but all in all they are pretty sturdy. The only negative for me is the bowl seems to be a bit deep, but other than that I like them.
