Using the expression mode is a little difficult, other than that i love it
I wish I could give negative 5 stars. If it was returnable I would have returned this piece of junk back within 24 hours. I have used it on 3 occasions and it will not pump more than an ounce. I have tried 30 minutes one time and it is ridiculous no more than one ounce will come out with both breasts combined and that's what helping the pump out by squeezing and massaging my breasts with one hand while wearing myself out pumping with the other. I thought this would be good because the double pump by Medela gives me 7 ounces total. Save yourself the headache and leave this piece of junk on the shelf.
When I had my little girl 3 years ago, she was tongue-tied, which caused a poor latch. I had always planned to breastfeed, so I bought an expensive electric pump that was loud, difficult to clean, and basically not practical. I was given one of these at the hospital, and I loved it so much I went and bought a second one. I bottle fed her breast milk for 6 months using these two pumps for every feeding session(I double pump because I start leaking from the other side when single pumping.). With my second baby(3 years later), I started using my old pumps, but they did seem to lose suction(I believe the plastic/rubbery part connected to the pump handle is wearing down). Since I loved them so much and could not find replacement parts for that particular part, I went ahead and purchased two more. I have been using them every 3 hours for almost 3 months now with very little problems(always user error). I have realized that usually when I lose suction with these, they need to be taken apart to remove the water/milk that is between the pump handle and the plastic/rubber suction at the top. If that piece is wet, it loses suction. The membranes also need to be changed out from time to time if they wear down or tear as that will cause loss of suction as well. These pumps are much more convenient, portable, and quiet, and I use them daily by preference. FYI-I work about 60 hours a week including my commute time, so I pump a lot!
Purchased this in store due to the recommendations. Unit broke the third time I used it. The pump handle separated from the vacuum unit and thereafter came apart about every third "pump". Tried a bigger o-ring with no luck. I would not buy this again or recommend it to my worst enemy. Note, it I could have given it no stars I would have.
....I would have been mad at myself for paying for this pump. I feel that the suctions is very weak so it takes a very long time to get an oz. Any time i use this pump I can only get about 2oz of milk (from both breast!!). I have a pump that I paid for (Lansinoh manual pump) and with that I get 4oz from 1 side on my 15 minute work breaks! The handle on this pump is awkward so it makes it hard to pump with one hand. Sad to share my very bad personal experience with this pump. Try the Lansinoh first, its cheaper
