Baby love them

We received this nipple from the weeSpring Parent Panel, but unfortunately we were not even able to use it because it leaked so badly. When we tried to feed our baby with it, it leaked all over my husband and her. I'm not sure what we did wrong or if it was just a defective nipple, but we couldn't figure out how to get it to stop. Having said that, we haven't had any problems with the nipples and bottles in the Philips Avent Gift Set.

My baby is 3 months old and exclusively breastfed, so having a nipple that grows with baby is definitely a huge plus as bottle feeding doesn't happen very often, if at all. When trying out different flow rates to see what baby prefers, this is so much easier than traditional nipples. First, you normally have to buy the different flow rates (adds up quickly especially if you haven't found a preferred brand), then while you're feeding baby you would have to pause, switch out the nipple, try again with the new one, etc. I love that with the Variflow all you have to do is turn the bottle so that the number I, II, or III etched in the nipple is pointing down toward baby's chin. I tested out the different flows before trying it on my daughter by putting in some water and turning the bottle to see how fast it dripped out and there was a definite difference in flow corresponding to the numbers. All that being said, my 3 month old does NOT like taking a bottle. She tends to play with the nipple and then let whatever milk comes out of it dribble out of her mouth. So as for which flow rate she would prefer or if it relieves colic or gas, I am not sure; but not for lack of trying. Out of all the bottles we've tried she has taken to the Philips Avent Natural Baby Ultra Soft Bottle. If the Variflow nipple were also ultra soft, I would have given the product 5 stars instead of 4. I was given this bottle nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel and it is a brilliant idea. I'm not sure why this is a new thing, or maybe it's just new to me, but it's great! Being able to choose what flow you need without having a cabinet full of nipples to change in and out is super nice. Now, for my specific baby he uses a bottle pretty infrequently, so he doesn't instantly love them, but this one went pretty well, considering. If he fusses when trying to feed him a bottle I wonder if the flow is too much or not enough, so with this nipple we could just move it quickly. He settled on II. As far as gas, I did have to burp him several times for one bottle, so I'm not sure it solves the problem to alleviate gassiness. If you have a generally gassy baby, this might not be the best match for you, otherwise it's a really great option! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I received this product to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. It is very helpful to have a variety of different nipple sizes, that way your little one gets the right at the proper speed while feeding. Also so you can continue to use the same bottles and not have to constantly spend money on new products every time your little one advances to the next stage. These where very easy to clean and sterilize straight from the package. My four month old daughter took to these nipples immediately, and seemed to do best with the 2 flow rate nipple. She does well with the medium 3 flow rate, but seemed to be getting too much at once and would have an eight ounce bottle finished in under ten minutes. I believe this was due to this nipple has 3 holes in the tip instead of the usual one. So I felt it best to stick with the 2 flow for now. These nipples have been great at relieving her gas and fussiness. We have been struggling for quite some time to find the right bottle for her, seeing as so many allow for way to much air to enter a babys tiny stomach. These nipples have been amazing at not letting any air reach her mouth during feeding at all, meaning a lot less gas and fussiness after feedings. All in all, I would definitely recommend any expecting mother to add this to her gift registry, and I would happily give it as a baby shower gift myself.
