I ordered the plug in cooler for a trip to Europe, it was a godsend! Our trip that was suppose to last about 12 hrs ended up being 42 hours due to delays. Thank god I had my cooler for my insulin because otherwise it would have gone bad before I even got to my destination. I will be using it again this fall when we go overseas . I'm so glad I found this!
Flying first time with the voyager to transport three needles for a long trip overseas. I had it stored inside my backpack with a charger- it overheated significantly. There is damage to the rx and not sure what I'll do. Apparently the vent on top of usb lid needs air flow- can't be enclosed in backpack. Who knew. This would be very important to know as a traveler as to the best method to transport the unit.
Bought this medicine cooler to keep insulin refrigerated while on an 10-day bicycle tour. It worked well. I kept it in a partially opened Ortlieb outer pocket attached to my rear Ortlieb pannier. At some points during the trip, I cycled through rain, in hot weather, and on dirt roads. The cooler did its job. I used five 20000 mAh Energizer power banks that have 2.1A USB output. Worked very well! This battery can keep the unit reliably powered for 14-15 hours. So, having five of these power banks on hand, I had enough to keep the cooling unit powered for three days. I used the power banks only when I wasn't unable to use the gel pack or plug the unit directly into a wall socket. Part of the overall strategy was to be able to shift between the three different ways (gel pack, wall socket, power bank) to keep the unit cool. In addition to using campgrounds, motels, and Airbnb, I was able to stealth camp on two occasions. It would be possible to use the Voyager with power banks to ride to more remote locations, especially if using reliable solar panels. On three days, there were temperature warnings as the temp went into the 30s (Celsius). It's important, in such a situation, to monitor the unit closely. It appeared to me that in the higher ambient temperature, the unit consumed slightly more energy from the power banks. If using the Voyager for adventure travel, be sure to test it during training periods so you know how to use it and what its limits are. As my bike tour was drawing toward its end, the unit's motor did begin to sound a little strained; with the exception of two days of riding when I was able to use the gel pack (as I had stayed at accommodations where I was able to freeze the gel pack) I had the unit's going constantly for about 8 days. As someone who likes adventure travel and travelling to more remote and isolated areas, I am VERY satisfied with this product and will buy again when my current unit needs to be replaced. Very good service, too!
Great customer service. Quick response time with inquiries. Great product. I was having second thoughts buying this product due to price but because the meds are expensive, it would cost me more to have a ruined medicine. Bought this primarily for travel but will use this if there's a power outage.
I got diagnosed with type 1 in early 2022 about a month before my 6 week European backpacking trip. I researched options after being told insulin would have to be kept refrigerated & I came across 4AllFamily. Their products have been exactly what I've needed. I traveled to the Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland & the UK with my cooler. 6 weeks total! I flew AerLingus & I was able to bring the cooler aboard + 2 power-banks I bought. I wasn't sure on whether I'd be able to bring these on board so I preemptively reached out to AerLingus. They were frustratingly unhelpful. I risked it and brought everything with me and thankfully did not have any issues with airport security. (Warning:, on a later flight I did have the blue Biogel pack in my checked-luggage and the dinguses at Manchester Airport thought it was drugs so I'd recommend leaving this Biogel pack at home. According to Manchester Airport, it "looks suspicious on x-ray.") You can plug in many places at hotels, stations, coffee shops and on trains & buses. Look under, over, between, and behind your seat to find the outlets. Bring outlet converters for both the Euro-zone & the UK as they are different. The UK prongs are skinnier & the converter will not work for the Euro-zone. -Aerlingus' USB outlets never worked for me so I used a powerbank instead. Bring at least 2-3. -Outlets are very common on trains/busses across the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland & UK. Hard to find in Czechia. Exist in Italy but RARELY work. TIPS AND TRICKS: Italy has a vendetta against ice. Use frozen peas & the small plain lid in an emergency if powerbanks are dead. -Some hotels need a keycard for electricity to run. Get an extra so your cooler can stay powered if you're leaving it behind while your'e out.
