Philips Norelco Speed-XL 8160XLCC - Shaver - cordless

As good as a Norelco Shaver is, my greatest satisfaction came from my shopping experience with WalMart. Easy ordering and checkout and really fast service. I had it in less than a week from the night that I placed the order. I shop almost exclusively on the net and that was a pleasant surprise.

I've owned the shaver for 2 months now. I can say that if you've got a thick full beard, don't bother with it. I do and it takes me about 40 minutes to shave my face everyday. I thought it would get easier with time, but I was wrong. It works but my throw away razor does a better job in about a 1/4 of the time it takes me to use this one. Quality & reiliability are there, but I think I wasted $116.00 on something that a $1.00 razor does it better & quicker.

I have always used a foil shaver, but I decided to try a rotary. Closeness is excellent, the trimmer for sideburns is also great, however, shaving up close to the sideburn is not impressive. I found it difficult to get a close shave up close to the sideburn. Super quite, a nice feature, especially in the morning when you don't like to hear a noisy shaver. Overall, I would recommend this shaver and give it a 9 out of 10.

I have been a Norelco user for for about 15 years and have always been impressed with the reliability of their razors and this one promises to be just as good. Not looking for flashing lights or anything fancy, but construction seems sturdy and shaver does the job.

Some features that impressed me: This Norelco shaver has a battery option, and the blades can be cleaned under running water. There is a self-cleaning mechanism under the battery charger. The shaver has a light system to let the person know when it is time to recharge the battery. Until I have used this shaver for a year or more without mechanical problems, I will hold off on giving the shaver an Execellent rating. Time will tell. I accidently dropped this shaver and got the blades out of alignment. When I called the Norelco service center, the customer rep was very helpful. She actually had one of the type of shaver that I dropped in her hand as she walked me through the re-installation of the blades, which is not difficult if a user knows how. The service department is one of the features I would look for in buying a shaver. Norelco has a great one.
