I have been impressed with Vornado quality, so when looking for a new desk fan for my office, I decided to see if Vornado made one. I found the Flippi V6, and took one to work. I love it! I have my Flippi about a foot and a half away from me. On the low setting, it creates a gentle breeze that is perfect for keeping me comfortable. If I start to get over-heated, I turn it up and within a minute or two, I am ready to turn it back down. The Flippi V6 is virtually silent on the low setting. The high setting is no louder than my old desk fan. It takes up less space on my desk than a conventional desk fan because the base has a smaller profile than the typical triangular style bases. I am able to flip the switch single-handedly by resting my hand on the top of the base, just below the fan itself, and flipping the switch with my pinkie finger. I like that the fan itself sits a bit higher than a typical desk fan. I think this helps with the comfort and circulation factors. I am able to adjust the direction of air flow as needed, and it stays where I put it (as opposed to the average adjustable desk fan). I am very happy with the quality and value of my Vornado Flippi V6.
It gets a little warm in my bathroom during the spring and summer and I need a breeze especially when I'm putting on my face in the morn. This little gem is just the ticket. My sister has one in her bathroom (that's where I got the idea) and she keeps it on all year and it is still going strong. Vornado products are great. They stand behind their product.
Great design. Because of the way it folds, it is a perfect travelling personal fan. I run mine every night beside my bed for the white noise and light breeze it provides. I use another on my desk at home. A third Flippi is used in my ship. My only problem is the fan motor will eventually start to make screeching noises within a year. Because Vornado has outstanding customer service and warranty, I've had three replacement fans sent to me. I wish this fan would just last, blowing quiet each night for several years, though.
I liked the idea of this fan as a replacement for a very classic miniature floor design type that had quit working. I bought this expecting something better than average because of the name and the hype. Unfortunately, between the nearly useless I setting and the better II setting that is laid out in a very odd way on the power switch, I'm overall far from impressed. Why have a setting that barely moves air. I accidentally leave it on all the time because it's basically like not being on at all. Also, why on earth would you lay out a switch like the one they did? The fan isn't heavy enough to use it with one hand so any time I want to go change the setting or turn it off, I need to use both hands. I know, first world problems, but it's 2015, I think we can do better. Also, what's with having the layout of the switch going from Off to II to I? Is that just a complacent admittance that nobody is really every going to use setting I?
As your own product write up says... this moves air and needs to be cleaned! But you can only wipe off the outside of the fan. The inside gets all gunked up with dust and eventually causes noise and slows down the motor. Tried vacuuming but can't get INSIDE...so I took it apart! For the cost of a locking wire nut I couldn't get the fan back together! Very wise from a built-in product obsolescence technique but come on guys if I'm willing to take the time to take the fan apart TO CLEAN IT couldn't you use a twisted wire nut instead of the crimping kind so I can put it back together? The wire ends up too short after breaking the crimped wire nut connection... grrrrrrr
