This is my second one since Dec. I had to take the first one back as it wouldn't work from day one. So I returned it and got an exchange. I have used it a dozen times and it messes up more each time I touch it. No more warranty. Piece of junk don't ever buy one. Already I have to pay for a repair job and I am so upset . I told my daughter not to get one so she went elsewhere. I can not afford to pay for repairs all the time.
This is my first sewing machin and I've had this for two years now. It does everything I need it to do. Great for beginners and intermediate levels. Simple to use and figure out. Making buttonholes is so easy if you follow the directions correctly! It only jams when I've done a lot of sewing and I need to clean out the fabric dust. It doesn't take in really thick fabrics. You'll probably need an industrial machine for it.
This is only the second sewing machine I have ever owned. So to say this Singer is reliable is saying a lot. I have done straight stitching through multi layers of silk, satin, cotton and other materials with ease. l like the control I get on the foot pedal and the auto default on the stitch selections. When using the stitch selector take advantage of the default settings first, then if needed adjust the stitch length and width. Most times the auto settings work fine. I have had this machine for 3 happy, happy weeks.
This is my 2nd Singer machine. It sews like a dream! Super easy to thread, and bobbin direction is very simple to follow. Love the auto thread feature. The only disappointment for me is the light on the machine. It is horrible. I use a secondary light when sewing. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this machine!
My parents bought me this machine so I wouldn't have to use my mother's inherited 60 year old Singer to learn how to sew (no joke). I have had two of these machines. The first machine I received, I accidently broke part of the thread guide off when I was learning how to use it. It was, however, entirely my fault. Wal-Mart took it back (it was within the return period) and exchanged it for a new one. I have been more careful and have not had any issues. I would say that I wish this piece had been made out of better quality metal, but I think it's just a delicate and small piece to begin with. I had hardly any sewing experience when I bought this machine. I have had this (second) machine for about 9 months now and have made half a dozen dresses and hemmed a few pieces of clothing. I find the instructions in the manual very clear (especially the troubleshooting section for common mistakes) and think I chose an excellent machine to learn how to sew with. Now that I am more experienced, I find that this machine can still handle many of the complicated techniques and stitches used in dress making and clothing alteration. This was a great gift - I am very happy with it.
