I have a 2009 Saturn Sky Redline that recommends 5w-30 synthetic oil. After reviewing different brands of oil and determining Mobil 1 5w-30 annual protection met my engines requirements I decided this was the best choice. These automobiles are unusual in that they have a 2.0 liter motor with a dual scroll turbo and 20 psi boost that is much higher than most turbos. This engine will produce almost 300 horsepower and at the time of production this engine has the most horsepower per cubic feet of any engine at 2.1 horsepower per cubic inch. I have driven this car in short trips in cold weather and on the highway aggressively at 120 mph or more. This engine has never consumed any noticeable oil no matter how I drive the car. I work at a company that changes oil in cars and this is somewhat unusual and I note many of similar motors do consume more oil than I think they should. This oil does not break down with hard driving and it protects the turbo and engine under extreme conditions. I highly recommend this oil. At my last oil change, the technicians who drained the used oil out of engine remarked about how good the old oil still looked and how pure the new oil looked going in. This engine makes extreme demands on oil but they are no challenge for Mobil oil annual protection.
Vehicle: 2008 Toyota Tundra 4.7, miles 116,000 at time of change. Current miles 124,500. After the dealership put me on 10,000 mile synthetic, the next time I bought Mobil 1 Annual 5W-30 for 20K miles. I figured, I'd run it 10K and change it since I don't really trust any oil for 20K. At 9500 miles my engine started tapping as I accelerated. This would go on for 1/2 a mile until the oil got hot. I checked the level and I was missing 1 quart and the oil was very dirty (used mobil filter, too). I added and extra quart and the tapping went away. I'm going to the dealership to check if any engine damage has been done. I always do my own oil changes. Prior to synthetic I was using Mobile 5000 and that worked great. The synthetic oils don't seem to work very well for older work trucks.
I have used Mobile 1 in my 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT, 2 Liter, since my first oil change.. Just turned 200,000 miles and my car runs like new.. I've used 15,000 mile intervals between oil changes. I drive for Uber in Houston. I drive 150 to 250 miles a day. No issues at all..no leaks at all.. Great product! (I've always used ExxonMobil fuel as well)
This is the 2nd Mobil 1 AP oil and filter change. Know how we expect a smoother engine runs after an oil change everytime?! Well, not his time, it runs the same smoothness, not smoother. after 11 months. 9500 miles, plus 300 idling hours on the 1st Mobil 1 AP, I think the first oil still have lots of life in it.
I have been using the Extended Performance 15,000 mile oil for years and changing the oil a 15k. I've had a couple of cars up to 200,000 mile without issues and a 2006 Camry up to about 220,000. I have no issues with going up to 20,000 with this new oil. Great convenience only having to change the oil once a year. I'll probably go over a year if I only have around 12,000 or so after 12 months.
