I have this Iron about a month now and so far it is better than expected. I usually use a Rowenta Iron which cost $100 and lasted about 2 years. I decided to buy a cheaper iron to use until I get another Rowenta so I purchased this Sunbeam well I can say I was pleasently surprised it works just as good, if not better than the expensive one and looks better. If I can get 1 year from this Iron I will never buy an expensive Iron again. I gave it 3 stars for Durability because I dont know how long it will last so I gave it an average, only time will tell, but it looks as though it will last a very long time.

I've had this iron for about a year now and here is what I've found. Positive - Heats up very quickly - Durable: I've dropped it several times and it still works fine. - No drips or over spray Negative - The retractable cord does not work. If the cord gets twisted at all it jams. Even if you baby it, it still never goes all the way in. - The iron does not glide very well, although if you turn up the steam it helps.

I grew up using the same iron every day for years with no problems. Now, it seems I have to continually replace them every year or 2. The retractable cord sucks. It NEVER retracts all the way - rendering it a useless feature. The seam where the water storage container and handle meet is now mysteriously leaking. The steam feature works great though... probably my favorite thing about it.

This iron isn't expensive yet it does a great job. The weight of the iron is "just right" and it does a good job ironing something the first time around. You can choose to have the steam on all the time or choose to spray as you go. The iron is easy to fill with water and easy to maintain. I bought one in the store, gave it to my daughter, and then bought myself 2 more so I'd have a back-up iron if this one ever stops working -- or I can give the second one as a gift to someone who needs a GOOD IRON.

Man oh man...when I first started using this iron. I was in heaven. The steam feature is amazing as well as how light and effortlessly it seamed to glide over my clothes. That is until... 1.It started sticking to ANYTHING that I sprayed with starch. I was lucky that I pulled the shirt off of it when I did because it would have been Extra Extra CRISP, if you know what I mean. 2. Remember the 'Effortless Glide' I mentioned previously? Gone. Now it bunches anything I try to iron if I'm not holding it to the ironing board taut. 3. The wierdest thing. Everytime I push the steam button 'crustations' (It's the best description I could find, ok?) come out onto the clothes. I like my clothes crust free, please! 4. Last, but not least, the worst thing about this iron...the RUST. Yes, RUST if I want to be able to use this iron (I haven't gotten around to taking it back yet) I have to spray the face with an all purpose cleaner to get all the rust off otherwise my husbands beautiful white stafford turns a dingy orange. Yuck. So much for making my life easier.
